Posted September 3, 20177 yr I really liked what I saw from Coney. Showed a burst I didn't know he had. I don't think it will be long before he cracks the starting lineup.
September 3, 20177 yr Daelin for me. I don't recall if he got much time last year. But he looked real good for having a sizable chunk of HS ball taken away due to injury and transfer. His athleticism showed, and that's something we really needed on the DE or edge rusher whatever he's classified as. He came to play!
September 3, 20177 yr Coney, Hayes...all good choices. Ill go with the rightside of the OL. Those guys played on par w Mike and Q
September 3, 20177 yr Author Coney' date=' Hayes...all good choices. Ill go with the rightside of the OL. Those guys played on par w Mike and Q[/quote'] For sure. If they can find another WR to line up opposite EQ, this offense should be pretty dynamic.
September 3, 20177 yr Weishar for sure. The TD catch was awesome. Staff seems to trust all of the TEs a lot.
September 3, 20177 yr Put dexter Williams in the mix.. kid was really quick to the holes...(that's what she said)...
September 3, 20177 yr Wiesher (awesome td catch), Wimbush (didn't think he'd look that good or run that well- really like his running ), D Hayes, J Hayes Overall, strong game to start the opening season considering last year.
September 3, 20177 yr Coach Long. I was very happy to see a run based offense where he played to his strength-his offensive line. Smythe (I believe) caught a couple of tough passes where he got hit instantly, but held onto the ball. That was impressive and will be needed as time goes on. The tight end pass to move the chains will be critical. Edited September 3, 20177 yr by Frankus
September 3, 20177 yr Wimbush runs well, but physically, he's not a strong, imposing runner. Which is fine. But holy sh!t don't take those hits! Well see Ian book as soon as the Georgia game if wimbush isn't smarter about avoiding hits. Nick Coleman and Greer Martini are in a fierce competition to determine who's the worst tackler on the team. Receivers need to do a better job of getting open (I think, hard to tell from tv) Whoa, dline looks good. Bonner looks a little slow and hinish a little overmatched against a good center, but the other freshman and guys looked good. Jay Hayes as advertised. Oline is amazing, hainsey playing says a lot. Cam smith is going to stick around and make plays all season long. Josh Adams somehow looks even better. Is he a heisman candidate yet?
September 3, 20177 yr I have a surprise: coach Kelly. I was watching him every time they planned to him. He was coaching his coaches, and actually talking to his players, and coaching them on the sideline. Again, it's just one game, but if he can look in the mirror after last season, and change how he coaches, and more hands on with the players, instead of X's and O's, I think this team can be a top 15 team. The team played with energy yesterday, that has been my biggest gripe the past 7 years . If it keeps up, we can play with anyone on our schedule.
September 3, 20177 yr Mike tirico: He claims both of his parents are white  I liked mike, He was a little loud but he was alright. Kraemer: if he's losing snaps to a true freshmen in game 1, then that's a problem.
September 3, 20177 yr Alize Jones and not in a good way. I think we will see much better games from Mack.
September 3, 20177 yr Coney' date=' Hayes...all good choices. Ill go with the rightside of the OL. Those guys played on par w Mike and Q[/quote'] Can't say I agree with Right side of O line.. Bad play calling, running to the right on 4th and 2, but you've got to get a push against tired Temple players.. But more importantly, WTF is Wimbush in with 6 min running the GD ball?? Let me tell you, GA will break his neck if they pull that sh!t.. These coaches better preserve that boy, or this season will be over quickly.. They will be no joke..
September 3, 20177 yr I didn't think the crowd was as hyped as I expected or at least it didn't come off as such on TV. It looked like empty seats as well.
September 3, 20177 yr I didn't think the crowd was as hyped as I expected or at least it didn't come off as such on TV. It looked like empty seats as well. We all know that crowd sucks. It hasn't been good since 2005 when USC came to visit and we lost. Those old turds aren't giving up their seats. So we may as well just get used to it
September 3, 20177 yr wasn't really that surprised because I had been to the spring game. If I had to point out some people I'd go Nick Weishar, Coney. Knew Tranquill was going to be good. I expect Martini to be better, because he was when I saw him. Daelin is what I thought he was, a defensive stalwart. Running backs were all who I thought they were. Powerful(Jones), Explosive(WILLIAMS) , and a mix of both in Adams. Brandon reminds me of a taller Golson who runs better. So he had a Day Similar to Golson in 2012. Made a few more plays than Golson did against Navy but it was fairly consistent with my personal evaluation
September 3, 20177 yr I cant say anyone really surprised me but I was pleased by the play of Coney, Weishar and Hayes. St. Brown looked good too.
September 3, 20177 yr Brian Kelly. He kept his foot on the gas and beat a team we were supposed to beat handily. The game was never in question and the team looked like they were well coached. Our floor is 8 wins, I think we can get to 10+.
September 3, 20177 yr Our floor is 8 wins, I think we can get to 10+. It only happens......IF they stay healthy... If ND loses anybody in key positions they are gonna be in trouble.... They just don't have the depth of elite programs....
