Gold Stars:

*The Left side of the offensive Line: Sorry I doubted you Big Mike. The Oline was the clear MVP in my book

*Josh Adams: Eric Dickerson reincarnated.

*Brandon's feet: Man can this kid run. He scares me a little taking the hits. he looked a little beat up late in the game.

*Weakside DE: Hayes and Okwara---they can bring it

*Nic Weisher: Competition is making everyone better, glad to see he's not just fading away.

*Dexter Williams :I don't think Jones is better then him.

Frowny Faces:

*HJ: We won---sorry

*Defensive line: Not terrible but with Georgia coming it could get ugly.

*Redzone: We still looked confused and against better comp will be ineffective.

*Yoon: C'mon man

*Tackling: If we're not laying the lumber on these folks then we should at least wrap up better. If frustrates me that our guys get crushed making catches in the middle of the field while it's a soft spot for our opponents.

I was wrong in my prediction. I'm glad. We stomped on a clearly inferior opponent for a change.

On a side note: I'm watching Alabama and Florida State along with Michigan and Ohio State earlier and it is just shocking at how they are just in another league than we are.

I know ND isn't alone but good grief, ND would get slaughtered by these teams.

No argument here. That's why i think it's unfair to put elite team expectations on us. Most teams will fail that test.

Although osu loik a little vulnerable this year. I don't think they win the big 10.

They needed to put Book in there once the game was clearly in hand IMO. Give one kid a break and the other a little PT because you could tell Wimbush was getting gassed. So, a frowny face for the coaches.

Gold stars for the offense and defense. It wasn't perfect but I'll take a 33 point win when the defense holds the opponent below 20 points and the outcome was actually better than I expected.

Gold Star - Balis

I second that.

Guys that really stood out were Adams, ESB, Daelin, Tranquill, Wimbush, and Dexter IMO. Good God we need a HoltzIan full house backfield package with Wimbush, Adams, Dexter, and Jones.

The line did pretty well on runs, but there are kinks that need to be ironed out in pass pro.

Passing D is really scary.

Gold stars:

Play calling. Nothing cutesy. They couldn't stop the run, Long kept at it.

RB: All 3 looked the part.

LB: Morgan and Coney make a pretty athletic LB duo.

Really too much to list. Was a great effort all around.

Ohio State and scUM? Both looked horrible early and didn't pull away until late. OSU was losing to lowly IN into the 3rd quarter, hardly an other worldly performance and back to back Pick 6's for scUM nearly gifting a completely overwhelmed opponent minus 10 players including two key offensive starters.

Bama and FSU, good teams but we already knew that didn't we.

Gold Stars:

Running Game: In every facet (backs, OL, QB)

D-line: Not because it was some spectacular game, but they played a nice overall game and showed why maybe they are a tad underrated

Coney: The best player on the defense yesterday

Weishar: Proved he can be called upon

Lack of penalties: 2 false starts by a true freshman and two offsides. No holds, personal fouls, PIs. Love that

Frowny Faces:

LB core as whole. Not worried, but definitely some things that need to be cleaned up

Tackling: Still a concern to a certain extent in the open field. LBs and safeties need to do a better job

Overall, great game. I'll need to rewatch since I was in attendance, but my one big takeaway is that this was nowhere near the team's full potential. New coaching staff all over, and completely dominated a good Temple football team. Can't for next week.

Is this the same Ohio St that had issues with Indiana (yes, Indiana) until late? If ND would get slaughtered by Ohio St, does that mean that Indiana would give ND a heck of a game?

I don't think either of those teams are in another league when it comes to offensive talent. It's on the defensive side where they have more talent and depth. Hopefully, we'll begin to recruit well on both side of the ball.

Excuse me but Mr Daelin Hayes says hello....

Just another positive spin from you, huh?

Is this the same Ohio St that had issues with Indiana (yes, Indiana) until late? If ND would get slaughtered by Ohio St, does that mean that Indiana would give ND a heck of a game?

Indiana would have beaten ND last year. They would have scored at will. They are no longer the doormat they used to be.

I agree that OSU started slow with a new OC. We will see who is in the playoff this year, OSU or ND.

There were alot of positives so I'll list 3 negatives.

1. Wimbush better clean up his decision making or he's gonna throw multiple picks versus the dawgs.

2. We need better seperation from our receivers. We have one guy and that's it, once teams shut him out we are screwed. This might be the reason Wimbush had bad throws but I know guys like Stepherson, Sanders and Claypool can get open. I was not impressed with Canteen and Smith.

3. Worried about the safeties. I think Coleman is better in man than Love so I think we should move Love to safety and let Coleman play on the corner.

Also please give Dexter Williams more carries.

Excuse me but Mr Daelin Hayes says hello....

Daelin was great. I thought Coney was more impactful yesterday.

Gold stars

Punt Coverage Team. Julian Love is a beast on that team.

Running Backs, Adams and Williams especially

Chip Long- kept his promise, heavy run, play action team 59 percent run 41 percent pass, first time since Chuck Martin in 2012.

Brian Kelly- liked him in the CEO role instead of offensive commander-in-chief

Redzone: I thought we scored touchdowns(rushing focus helped) on offense and did a fairly good job in allowing only 3 when they got there defensively.

Frowny Faces:

Pass protection: At times I thought Wimbush was really vulnerable on naked bootlegs, and even straight drop back attempts.

Slide- Like the last item I thought Brandon took too many hits.

Receiving depth- Didn't need it much but didn't see it much either.

You are unbelievable. Always pi$$ing in the wheaties and comparing ND (or downgrading) in relation to some other team. You are tiresome friend.

I compare them to the teams we SHOULD be compared too. The teams we used to be and should be again.
