jessemoore97
Prayers to Ara's family. May the Lord comfort you during your time of grief. Know that he was respected not just for his accolades on the gridiron but moreso for being a humble, upstanding man everywhere he went. Thank you Coach, and God Bless. OKLAHOMAIRISHFAN
I haven't posted in a while but felt compelled to today. Honestly, until about a year ago, I didn't care much about Ara. I started watching the Irish in 1992 and became a huge Holtz fan. To me, he is the standard. That all changed a few years ago when I bought a book called "Resurrection: The Miracle Season that Saved Notre Dame" by Jim Dent. It's about the resurrection of the ND football program lead by one great man, Ara Parsegian. Since reading that book, I have a new perspective of Ara and ND football and although not an alum, I feel a loss for the program and university. It's a sad day. moostache
RIP Ara, you were a giant of the game, but far more importantly a giant of a man. A paragon of virtue and an example for millions, his work on Earth is done, but his legacy will live on.

Handsome Jack
Sad day. Great man. Looked Alabama and The Bear right in the eyes and beat them. One of our last reminders of our past greatness is now gone.

Irish_Convert
Nice obituary from the NYT. The last paragraph says it all: Parseghian was only 51 when he left Notre Dame. Initially, there were rumors that he was weighing offers to coach in the N.F.L., but they remained rumors. As for the possibility that he might one day coach college football again, he would say, “After Notre Dame, what is there?” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/02/sports/football/notre-dame-coach-ara-parseghian-dead-at-94.html
