Posted September 28, 200618 yr i just got done reading todays paper and it had listed that tonight Thursday Sept. 28th at 10 pm ET on ESPN2 Oak Christian vs Venice. i thought they played last week, or maybe they are rerunning the game again.
September 29, 200618 yr yea for me to gain confidence i really need to hear it from someone i trust, even if its one of my USC friends all i hear or read it from now is on other boards and people i dont necessarily trust talking about it ill stay on it for sure
September 29, 200618 yr TD, is there any new news on his grades? Iknow that they were iffy earlier in the year, and I am curious if he has worked on getting them up?
September 29, 200618 yr im not so sure it was ever about his grades not being good enough to qualify i think his grades were more about him not wanting to put all that work in at ND, that he may have trouble making the grades while here i believe he qualified and was fully offered
September 29, 200618 yr TD, if the rumor you heard is true, then I really hope we could get Tyler, he looked great last night in the game.
September 29, 200618 yr Just a quick follow up on Corp (USC). It was kinda cool getting to flip between the Oaks game and the Orange Luthern game, gave me a chance to compare Jimmy w/ SC's incoming QB. Firstly, I believe JC will come in ready to play, not saying he starts, but I think he will. Corp runs an option offense. He also has a strong arm. He made some good throws but you can tell he will be a project when he gets to SC. He made some throws that were completions that could have easily been picked and probably would have on the next level. He doesn't have anywhere near the command the JC has over his offense but then again how many HS QB's do?
September 29, 200618 yr Tyler looked good, aswell as Clausen. i only saw some of the game after the 2nd half and the commentators made a couple comments that seemd interesting to me(or whatever).. that Tyler and Clausen are best friends. this made me think that Tyler really could follow Clausen here to ND. another comment they made was that Tyler was really excited about going to USC. this made me think that he is fully commited to USC. ofcorse i would love to hear that Tyler has interest in ND not only because ND would be getting a good recruit but also because USC would be losing one.. but im not going to get excited until there is more information.
September 29, 200618 yr One thing was for sure: those guys had a huge advantage at the line of scrimmage. And I mean that literally. Clausen's protection was fantastic most of the night -- he had at least 4 seconds on almost every play. And Tyler ran through some huge holes. It's going to be interesting to see how Clausen works out with our line next year.
September 29, 200618 yr yea because i mean he can't pass without all day right 2lakes? he doesnt have the quickest release of anyone in high school or possibly college? he didnt get rush out of the pocket at all right? did you even watch the game? do you know anything about football? sure it will be different when he isnt running alot from the shotgun and doesnt have all day, thank you mr. obvious, seriously without these great posts im not so sure what i would do come on, the line will be young next year but that doesnt mean they will be terrible, it just depends on who you play, but that great analysis by you makes me wonder if Clausen will be any good without such a dominating line. what a joke, why do you even post at all
September 30, 200618 yr Hahaha...reading these posts makes me scared to propose to my g/f! Is there this much bitching in marriage?!? Lol, just jokes guys.
September 30, 200618 yr I did watch the whole game. I noticed that Oaks had a superior team and Venice had a couple of good players -- especially that speedy running back (#5). I noticed that JC had a lot of time to go through his progressions and find an open receiver. I noticed that his release and accuracy were phenomenal and that he rolled out and threw on the run very well. I also noticed that he looked pretty slow on the move, and I know that the biggest difference between high school and college is the speed of the game. And I noticed that Tyler usually didn't get touched until he was at least 5 yard past the line of scrimmage and he already had a head of steam going. Certainly some of that was his speed but alot of that had to do with that Offensive Line full of six foot something almost three hundred pound athletes. As far as your personal remarks, I'd turn the other cheek but I only have two.
September 30, 200618 yr blah blah blah again useless seriously, bring something useful mr. i only have two cheeks
September 30, 200618 yr Could we get back to Oak Christian and Venice? This started out as a decent topic. Did anyone else notice how big and dominant OC's offensive line was?
September 30, 200618 yr They were dominant but not all that big. Their heaviest guy is 292 but both of their tackles are in the 250 range as is most of the line. The 292 guy is the only one near 300. The rest weigh about what a tight end weighs.
September 30, 200618 yr Are O linemen in HS that big nowadays -- is 300 lbs the norm? Man, that's big.
September 30, 200618 yr To be honest 2 lakes i sure as heck want to know the answer to that height and size thing. I can tell you when I was in HS our biggest linemen was 210. We won the State Championship then Some opponents linemen might hit 230 but that was it. Star half Back and Full Back were twin brothers (Ronnie and Donnie) both weighed 154-56. Both were about 5'5 or 5 6. It's been my delight at HS reunions always to say "I can't believe we won State with you two shrimps." I'm 5 10
September 30, 200618 yr How big are these guys going to be in 10 or 20 years -- 350 lbs, 400 lbs, 500 lbs? I can see some paleontologist in the year 1,002,006 digging up the fossilized remains of an NFL lineman and mounting it in their museum (like Sue at the Chicago Field Museum).
October 1, 200618 yr 2lakes, you make some great points about your observations. Either way we look at it, Tyler was impressive. But you are right, he wasnt usually touched until he hit the LB's/secondary. A ton of the credit goes to his offensive line. That being said, and I am pretty sure you agree, I'll take Tyler on ND anyday. The one disagreement I have with your comments is the JC and speed comment. I believe his speed is average for a QB and is more than made up for with his release. speed for a QB is waaaay overrated. Keep up the posting 2lakes, your opinion and approach is much appreciated.
October 1, 200618 yr broker nice reply Someone attack me. I stayed up all night watching JC (Squinty eyes like george bush) Almost 20 year old against 16, 17, 18 etc year olds? Can I wait for the Papal blessing I did not say he was not good he aiint had any real difficulty same schedule 2007 JC arries EE Georgia Tech Penn State Michigan Michigan State 300 pound ****fast guys***** we could hardly, and did not one game handle with a graduating line. This ain't HS Ball
October 1, 200618 yr We had an all city lineman that weighed 180, and our lineman typically weigh less than our backs. Occassionally we get a beast, though, like Mark Huyge who is 280 or so. He'll probably go to a MAC school.
