Frankus
In the past 20 years, Notre Dame has lost 5 or more game 12 times. That's 60 percent of the time we're losing 5 or more. Meanwhile, the biggest thread here is arguing over who belongs in the Top 3 coaches in college football. Does it matter? Will any top tier coach settle for the mediocrity Notre Dame has settled for? I doubt it. This is the new normal. We settle on lousy coaches, not Top 3 one's. This is undeniable when you look at Davie, Willingham, Weis and Kelly. Did Notre Dame deliberately select mediocre, coaches-either one's that have never been head coaches, or ones that won only at small time programs- or are those type of coaches the only one's that will come to Notre Dame? IMO there isn't going to be any saviour coach that is a Top 3 type. Neither us or them are a good fit for each other. This is who we are. Get used to it. ELDER06
If you feel that way, quit following them. Otherwise shut you mouth, this isn't a therapists' office for you just to b1tch. Seriously, how pathetic do you have to be to use this forum as a way to express how much of a pvssy you are? I can tell you're a total failure in life, telling everyone to "get used" to mediocrity, why don't you "get used" to never making more than min wage. cavic
The good news it only takes 1 dynamic coach to change that mediocrity to a high level of success. Nobody knew Dabo was that great 5 years ago. The right coach for ND is out there - the administration just needs to find him. Maybe it's Fleck but I prefer someone who has won in a big conference like Lou and Ara did before coming to ND. You're just still in the anger stage of the death of Notre Dame football. You'll pass to the accpetance stage. It's only a matter of time. This presumes that Dabo- or the modern equivalent of Ara or Lou- would come to Notre Dame. I don't think they will.
Irish_Convert
I remember back when I first joined this board there wasn't so much sniping back and forth among the members and sometimes it feels like DD is becoming ND Nation Lite. I'm not a BK fan but at least he's gone outside his comfort zone and made some changes. Just b!tching isn't going to change anything unless you're a member of The Board of Trustees with some major influence. Let's see how the changes play out before going into doom and gloom mode months before the season even starts. We're all ND football fans and we all want to see a successful team, so can't we all just get along?

Frankus
You've come unglued... PS - pretty sure Frankus is almost as old as Jesus and he's likely receiving his pension... Thank you. And this notion that one cannot be a fan while accepting our new reality is misguided. I will always be a fan, just as fans of the countless other teams that never (or very rarely) compete for a NC- continue to be fans.

All this whining about ND never being good again is like nails on a chalkboard. What loser purposefully dedicated time and energy to something they have no belief will succeed? I can understand skepticism, but all of these pvssies disgust me. Some of us actually want to talk ND football, not wallow around in pity. We're all ND football fans and we all want to see a successful team, so can't we all just get along? My post wasn't meant to bitch. In fact, it was the opposite: It was what I think is a realistic assesment and acceptance of what Notre Dame football is. I think there's still a lot of anger, both from the NDNation and Elder types. NDNation wants to shoot Jenkins and Swarbrick. Elder wants to shoot me as the messenger of what I think Jenkins and Swarbrick are content with in the college football landscape. I think a lot of ND fans are going through this right now. NDNation would call me a surrender monkey and Elder calls me a pussy. But it's just different anger coming from a lack of acceptence of what we are and will continue to be imo. Does this make me less of a fan? I don't think so, but others see it emotionally as heretical thinking. Respectfully, I think it is rational thinking.
ndomer4
How can we get along when our fans are telling us to "get used" to mediocrity. F*** that noise. We are mediocre and getting used to it or accepting it is just being a realist. As long as we keep buffoons like Kelly and previous hires we will continue down this road. Most of us grew into ND football, atleast we still support our team through thick and thin regardless. I'd be calling names if these so called fans Went and cheered for Ohio State, they are simply being realists which is a lot better than a bandwagon fan. I haven't even been posting here because of crazy nut jobs like you flipping out on anyone who isn't delusional or share your opinion. This clown needs a banning. If that's his position, fine, but those of us with balls won't see things that way.
