hawaiiirish
So---One of the MAJOR issues causing skepticism going into 2017 is the lack of proven STAR players on our roster.... The other of course is the 4/8 season and Kelly's efforts to reorganize.... So on the first one.... Please give me you're TOP TEN irish players for 2017....not based on seniority but on raw talent and star potential , more to the point---WHO WILL WE SEE as the top ten players when this season ends? Thanks aloha
LasVegasIrish
1. Alize Mack 2. Quenton Nelson 3. ESB 4. Mike McGlinchey 5. Brandon Wimbush 6. Nyles Morgan 7. Josh Adams 8. Daelin Hayes 9. Chase Claypool 10. Shaun Crawford Lots of guys could fit into those last few spots. Love, Tranquill, Martini, Tillery, Stepherson, etc could also be on here with no argument from me Edited June 4, 2017 by LasVegasIrish
FaithInIrish Forever
1. ESB 2. Quenton Nelson 3. Josh Adams 4. Mike McGlinchey 5. Alize' Mack 6. Nyles Morgan 7. Brandon Wimbush 8. Daelin Hayes 9. Drue Tranquill 10. Greer Martini One year I remember OklahomaIrish, HawaiiIrish, Rocketsan, and I doing a 10 player countdown. Than I remember 100 players(Learned alot about the ND roster that year including walk-ons) But made for a long project. Then 50 players. Was always hard after 7 or 8 like LasVegas says. Still was a long project These lists are always fun. I think ten is the right number! Thanks for the reminder Hawaii!
tneun89
1. St. Brown 2. Adams 3. Morgan 4. Nelson 5. Love 6. McGlinchey 7. Tranquill 8. Mack 9. D. Hayes 10. Watkins Really think D. Hayes and Tillery need to be Top 10 to compete for a playoff spot this year. I just don't think Tillery is a guy that can consistently dominate. I honestly think Tranquill will have a great year based on all of the reports from spring practice. Hopefully he can stay healthy. I see Wimbush being a much better player than Golson in 2012, but I don't think Chip Long/BK will completely depend on him this year - there are too many other weapons. jimbo
I am hoping with the staff changes on the defensive side we will see more than a few of the D players really step up their game. The ineptitude of the BVG regime probably hindered the development of many of the players. Thus the rationale for putting Jerry Tillery at #10. McGlinchey and Nelson should also come closer to realizing their potential with a new S&C program helping them. I included both Josh Adams and Dexter Williams as I think the run game will be more of a focus, at least until Wimbush settles in at QB. 1. Daelin Hayes 2. Alize Mack 3. ESB 4. Mike McGlinchey 5. Quenton Nelson 6. Nyles Morgan 7. Josh Adams 8. Tevon Coney 9. Dex Williams 10. Jerry Tillery
ELDER06
For the life of me, I don't understand the love for Tranquill, he's been below avg to bad his entire career.
tneun89
For the life of me, I don't understand the love for Tranquill, he's been below avg to bad his entire career. I agree to a large extent - I dont think he has made much of an impact. My optimism comes from the position change and the new defensive coordinator. He was out of position at safety and I think he will excel at rover. Also, all of the spring practice reports I read consistently mentioned him as one of the best overall players. I think if he stays healthy he will have a big year.

coltssb
If we can say top 11 I'll go with defense. These guys are either going to save us or sink us. I'm going with save us. At least for a 9-3 season. A new coaching staff and new philosophy, I think we will pleasantly surprised by these
KamaraPolice
Interesting! I like this, a lot I agree with. I think based off what I've seen, esb is the best player going into this year. I have mcglinchey on the bottom half of my top 5, daelin Hayes in my top half and I'd add Shawn Crawford to my list.

Spring game got me excited, I honestly hope tranquil can be a playmaking disruptor. For me, I love his mentality. He's a football player. He plays with passion. corysold
I think if Daelin Hayes isn't #1 by years end, then it might be another long year. The defense needs someone to come up big rushing the passer. After that: 2 - Wimbush 3 - Nyles Morgan 4 - McGlinchey 5 - Nelson 6 - ESB 7 - Crawford 8 - Alize 9 - RB by committee 10 - Whoever is the best CB at year's end I know I cheated a little bit, but too soon to know who will stand out on defense, but someone better. I also think the RB are really a group that will excel.

So like you, I cheated. Top 11 on defense must come through! He rest will follow.
ndomer4
1. Morgan 2. ESB 3. Josh Adams 4. Mike McGlinchey 5. Crawford 6. Nelson 7. Tranquill 8. Williams 9. Sanders 10. Love/Morgan I'm sure guys like Alize and Wimbush could top this list soon but I'm going off what I've seen so far.

"The Whiff" does not impress me. Now he is a floater on D? Lol. Disaster coming. We will see lots of Dru chasing guys down the sideline.
