7 is marginal but since their is little taste for a new coach hunt and associated buyout, its fairly sure 7 wins & we struggle ahead as is,,,,,

6 wins though WOW-----10 wins in 2 years with all the 4 and 3 star players--

throw in a bowl loss in early December---that would be 4-8 followed by 6-7

THAT MAY NOT BE SURVIVABLE even for BK

so 6 seems to be the over under to me----

6-6 should mean bye-bye but it won't because it will mean "progress". 7-5 *maybe*, if the wins are ND squeaking by an opponent and the losses are blow outs. Anything below .500(Again) and his a$$ *should* be out the door.

He'll likely get a pass regardless because he can point to completely new coaching staff chemistry, youth/inexperience, yada, yada.

holy sh**... what a depressing thread...

Are you telling me that after a 4-win season this fanbase doesn't believe the University still has a high enough standard for the football team to fire a guy that can't put together a competitive team after last year's debacle? Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

I'll look at the schedule and drop in the W's that I believe this current team should be able to get:

Temple - W

Georgia - L

BC - W

MSU - W

Miami OH - W

North Carolina - W

USC - L

NC St. - W

Wake Forest - W

Miami - L

Navy - W

Stanford - L

This represents a 8-4 season. If ND can't beat those teams at a minimum, BK should absolutely lose his job. In my mind, he's not safe unless he wins at least 9. The Irish are more talented than 10 of those teams. That gives him 1 or 2 losses for stupid coaching mistakes and he can still keep his throne.

Hey Jack, set the bar at "mediocre" and that's what you'll get. BK is firmly on the hot seat. W's are the measure... no more excuses or empty promises of things to come.

I hope he can do it... but no longer believe he can.

People were calling for his head last year. And I think if they could had gotten an elite coach he would had been fired last season. No way he survives anything but 8 wins. And that's pushing it. If He Wins only 8, they better be playing up to a higher standard. Games like Northwestern, Temple, BC, and NC State screams of being fired. We are ND. He needs to either step his game up or be gone. Enough of this mediocre bull rap.

9 wins and ND winning in a more dominant fashion and he stays.

I'm with Hawaii on this one. I think even if we only get 7 wins this year, he will still be the coach next season. If I was sitting in the AD's seat, he would need minimum 8 convincing wins and no terrible losses. 9-3 and he would be safe.

I think all the new assistant coaches came in on 3 year contracts? If that's correct, I don't see them cleaning house unless next year is another disaster. As an ND fan, I sure hope that doesn't come to pass.
