davislove
Most of us thought BVG should have been fired before last season and kelly not wanting to be wrong for keeping him let him stick around a little too long. Our Oline has been pretty bad as well. Should he be on the chopping block if that unit struggles early next season or is that BK throwing him under the bus? Should Coach Kelly let him finish the season knowing that they both will be looking for new jobs?
irishrush
I'm hoping we are better just from better S&C and scheme.
davislove
I'm hoping we are better just from better S&C and scheme. Maybe. I don't know how much the scheme is gonna change on offense. I'd be shocked if we don't see quite a bit of BK's offense.
Domer Dude
People on this board would have Holtz on the chopping block. Edited March 22, 2017 by Domer Dude

FaithInIrish Forever
I did not see the scheme as the issue. Too me its about Execution And Effort. Not X And O's Jimmy's and Joe's Folks [ame] [/ame] Compare: [ame] [/ame] [ame] [/ame] Same Coach
Dardo
People on this board with have Holtz on the chopping block. I'm not placing all the blame on Hiestand, but he has had a ton of NFL talent and has not put forth quality olines. Not sure how you can compare Hiestand's on field results to Holtz on field results. ndomer4
I'm hoping we are better just from better S&C and scheme. I have been one of the ones calling for Heistand but I will give him this season and the benefit of the doubt with the S&C. He recruits and has had good years before so I will save my opinion until after the season. He has recruited the best talent on the roster. The fact Mcglinchy only got 14 reps of 225 last year is a complete joke, Balis should make a difference with this group.
JTennant
The f**king pathetic thing about Hiestand is that his line play has improved in the last season or two. We went from a 2 to a 5/
dangeruss
I've always like hiestand but the lack of production drives me crazy considering how well ND recruits the OL. if the OL doesn't turn around this year then maybe its time for a change. Jim2Dokes
I don't know, I still think the pass blocking was pretty great and has been for awhile. You can't look at the Irish pass rush and compare it to the other teams when assessing the o line. The DL it seems make our o line look worse. Kizer had so much time, I counted 4 seconds multiple times to make a throw only to see if overthrown or something worse.
hawaiiirish
Pass Blocking by the Oline over the last two seasons has been a strength and overall very good! The Push for run blocking and in short yardage has been Average to slightly below average given the size and pedigree of the lineman. Why exactly is probably related more to BKs scheme then to specific coaching techniques, although i'm sure there is a blend of both. aloha
davislove
I recall way too often our quarterback being harassed and sacked by a 3 man rush. Do you make a change right when you see the problem still exist or you just ride it out?
nremdn
Another fire Hiestand thread? Sheesh. Do the people that want him gone think that these draft picks are teaching themselves in college? The guy recruits like a champ and obviously knows how to put guys in the NFL. So many talk about how horrible the offensive scheme and strength program have been, yet refuse to consider they may have had a major effect on OL production. Totally my opinion, but I think losing Hiestand would hurt bad.

Notre Dame on a whole has put a lot of guys in the nfl under kelly. Enough to wonder why aren't we doing better. The same can be said for harold.
