ckp160 10
Jarron Jones: SOURCES TELL US "He's a character flag for us. He's talented but I just don't think he loves the game enough for me to back him in our room. Who doesn't love those long arms? We all do, but I think he's lazy and will head south as soon as he has more time and money on his hands." -- NFC director of scouting Isaac Rochelle: SOURCES TELL US "Just kind of a guy for me. He can't play defensive end in an even front (four down linemen) and he can't play on third downs. Just not a fit for what we do." -- AFC East scout Deshone Kizer: SOURCES TELL US "I could tell you he should have gone back to school, but he also has some things you can work with. We need to find out how he will handle the board when our coaches put him through different reads. That's going to be huge for him. He's a bright kid, but I'm not sure he sees what he needs to see all time." - NFC midwest area scout Kind of rough for the 3 guys there! There was also a "proceed with caution" comment from inside the program about Jones.
ndomer4 532
There were about 6 or 7 qbs who threw the ball better than Kizer which was dissapointing. He was not very accurate which is consistent with what we saw this past season. Jones looked out of shape and Rochelle is just an average player. This is one of our worst groups to send to the combine, kind of shows why this season was such a failure. VCDomer 75
No surprise with any of His. Kizer's throwing motion and footwork were disastrous and awkward. He changed something... for the worse.
Irish_Convert 1
I can't say I'm surprised. Jones looked flabby the few times I saw him on campus when I was working there. Bumped into Rochelle a couple of times and even though I'm not a big guy, I know one when I see one. Kizer took a step back from his "breakout" season when he should have been showing improvement last year. I think one of his issues may have been struggling to decide whether he was a dual threat or drop back QB. He's kind of a "tweener" and needs to sell himself as one or the other. His decision to go pro was a bit of head scratcher.
vangordersmustache 63
Jones did not look good. When he came to ND I had such high hopes for him. Being so big, and athletic. But, it showed he didn't put in the work during his time at ND or leading up to the combine. Only have a 20" vert is just plane bad. I know he is a dt, but he took dead last by a lot. I think a good S&C coach will help ND so much with players like Jones.. Either by improving them, or weeding them out. He has been one of the most disappointing players to come through ND in awhile imo. Rochelle looked solid, and showed he worked hard. Shows his character. Hope he does well and lands with a team. Kizer didn't look good, but feel if he goes to a team that can sit him and develop him he could be great.
TexasDomer 1,486
Maybe Keizer won't end up a Brown
AlabamaDuck 0
Maybe New England will draft him in the 6th round.
davislove 0
When Jones wimped out when we played the service academies, i knew he didn't have the heart for the game. At least he has an ND degree.

IanY77 4
What?????? Jones sat out most of the Navy game because he was worried about a lower leg injury in what was essentially his NFL tryout year. It was confirmed by multiple pay sites.

AtLeastMySisWasIrish 0
So I had mentioned earlier I have a connection to Ronnie Stanley via his GF and her parents...known them for years and have spoken with Ronnie on a few occasions. While not the same level with Isaac, his GF is the sister of Ronnie's GF so expect to meet Isaac in the near future and will find out his impressions and what he's heard from teams. Worse case is I'll ask the girl's parents as they live vicariously through their daughters and are not shy about discussing, ie bragging, about their BF's. From an earlier chat at seasons end, they heard/thought he'd be a 4th round selection but pro day would determine. Note: I spoke with them prior to Combine invites so that could've changed. Will let anyone know when I hear and if worth sharing.
IanY77 4
Didn't Louis Nix do no less? Maybe the NCAA should do something about cut blocking. I think so. The rationale was that the Service Academies had weight limits, so they had to use unorthodox blocking to match up with bigger players. Since they don't seem to be observing those weight limits anymore, I agree that it's time to look at cut blocking.

Changing the subject a bit I think it's Kelly that has made our team fear cut blocking and freeze up. navy's triple option looks like a well oiled machine and I never get to appreciate their play because i'm rooting against them when they play ND. Last year however I did see them play 3 times besides the ND game. They only look like world better against us and if you ever listen to a BK pre or post Navy presser, they're in his head. hawaiiirish 62
Most of you guys were absolutely positive Kizer would go first round---now after one sketchy report and a midland day at the combine he's dropped to round 6--- I said he would NOT go round one if he came out---and I expect that to hold true--- But he won't fall that far--- He's so big with a big arm and excellent mobility----those attributes cannot be coached into being,,,,, Expect Kizer to go late round 2 in a league where QB is close to everything!! aloha
golson5 221
Kizer is going somewhere in the first 2 rounds. I don't know where 6 came from but that will never happen. Still maybe first round
