Big23Head
http://notredame.247sports.com/Bolt/Grad-Transfer-Pagano-trims-huge-list--51391722 Will be interesting to watch. He eliminated some schools that I would have thought made sense. If he is looking to purely stand out and prep for the NFL then ND may not be the best choice. I say this because he would have a much stricter academic side at ND than any of those other schools.
PJacksonsDred15
Usually, if you are that good to make good money in the NFL, you don't have to come back for a 5th year at all, much less transfer to get playing time. You get drafted after year 3 or 4. If I am in his shoes, I look for a place that can get me enough spot light to get drafted, but also an opportunity at a graduate degree that I can fall back on. irishrush
This is my only opportunity for insider info ever on this board and I have none... I went to high school with his father way back when in small town upstate NY. Great family. His dad was a tough SOB, but was only 5'7". Got the size from his mom's side. I emailed him and told him to tell his son to make the 40 year decision. All our HS friends feel like we are a part of his college career as we were a small tight knit school that did everything together. Pretty sad when you live vicariously through someone else's kid... I doubt I will hear anything, but if I do, I will be sure to post.

Also, make sure he knows we just got a recruit from Hawaii for the D-Line and he can coach a fellow islander up.
Domer Dude
He would be the missing cog in our D. I'd feel pretty good our coming season with him as an anchor in the middle.
Rockets Revenge
So why is he leaving Clemson?
yikityyakirish
So why is he leaving Clemson? He said the distance from home is a factor...but the biggest factor is probably playing time....Clemsons DL is still elite without him there...he would be the best DL on ND potentially...but he's probably 5th best DL at Clemson....I'd put my $ on Cal
Jersey Irish
Bet ND has had more players from Hawaii recently than Cal. But you can't beat the distance from home. Big factor. At least U$C isn't on his list.

yikityyakirish
Will take a visit to ND Good deal. I like our chances with him, but interesting he would list distance as the main reason for his departure. I guess it wouldn't be wise to say "well these new DL coming in are taking my playing time." Was contacted by 37 schools in 12 hours after announcing his transfer Schools with visits: Oklahoma Notre Dame Schools in Final 7: Notre Dame Oklahoma Nebraska Cal Oregon Texas Arkansas Edited February 21, 2017 by yikityyakirish
EddieAngel
Talk about a position of need. This kid could make a difference straight out of the gate if he were to sign on, supposing our new d-scheme isn't absolutely asinine.
Gatsby
He could benefit and get the best of BOTH worlds. He got a ring and can also have a graduate degree from a top university to fall back on after his playing days are over.
tneun89
Someone said this on another board, but it was a great point - how much of a factor can distance be if he is only on campus for about 7 months? He would arrive on campus in June and leave in January after the bowl game (hopefully) to prepare for the NFL draft. His stay in South Bend would be really short. It's not like he needs to find a second home for the next 4 years. The biggest factor has to be the opportunity for playing time. I don't know much about the DL depth for the other 6 schools on his list, but he would be a starter for ND on day 1.
icf
His 5 Official visits are set up -- ND, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Oregon. ND is first on March 24 and the last is Oregon on April 21. So, it could be awhile before his final decision is made.
irishrush
Here's a question. Do grad transfers actually get official visits that are paid for? That is weird to me.

It's not like you can drive home from Cali. Last i checked Honolulu don't have an NFL team. Although it would be sweet if they did.
