Its hard to tell in Spring but I'd like see players and think, "Wow, he looks stronger." "He looks quicker" "He's playing fast" I'd like to hear about the new systems being learnable.

I'd like to see a team with joy as well.

All great answers. I want to hear about competition. I want the new staff and s&c staff create an environment that forces you to get better through competition. If I was Kelly at his pc I would have said we were 4 and 8 last year and no position is safe. We are going to open every position up and from here til game 1 every position has to be earned by what you do in weight room film room spring summer and fall. Let's compete and get better every single day. I want to see hunger from last year's embarrassment

I thought BK said every position except for the long snapper was open after the SC debacle?

I think all spring and summer for that matter its the QB and the "defense" that will bear watching.

Those two elements will determine our season.

On defense scheme , player selection, chemistry & condition and just the overall feel and impression under the new DC....

On offense its all about Wimbush....

The OLINE, RBs & WRs should offer no big issues....

Who calls the plays will only matter if the QB is ready and good.

Special teams should be fine

FOR 2017 its all about the DEFENSE and the QB!

aloha

I don't know about spring, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if we made it to the season without any drama (arrests, suspensions, etc.). That would be a key indicator that the team is embarrassed by last year and focused.

In hindsight, do you feel there was a sort of cancer growing in the program in relation to these issues and finally came to head via last season? Sometimes, I can't help to think that. Not saying this was the single problem, but I can't help to think it was a huge underlying factor

Maybe. i think it was more of just Van Gorder being retained which led to a poor start to the season and the team losing all confidence. I just feel like every season we go into there is an incident that makes everybody say "Here we go again...". I don't think we're that far off from being a 10-2 team. I think that's a big reason BK picked captains before the offseason. If they can take control and keep everybody in line and let them know last season won't happen again it will pay big dividends.

Losing 5 player right before the start of each of the last 2 seasons didn't help. We lost Redfield and two more players who left for concussion or the business world and a couple transfers including Bryant (RIP). If we had Redfield we win at least couple more games. A stable program makes all the difference. Looking forward to a more physically aggressive team.

I don't buy that. The fact is most of our losses can be attributed to the coaches on the sideline and not the players on the field.

I do get your point about losing players you expect to have every year.
