Surpassingly, not that bad. Though, still didn't hit in certain areas.

I choose to call signing day the end of a miserable year rather then the start of a new season.

Not a good class when it really could/should have been. We always seem to be scrambling to find defensive guys late in the recruiting cycle. I know we got 2 top tight ends but they aren't needed right away and I can't help but think one of those guys won't stick around.

Welcome 2017 season.

Pretty damn good all things considered, I know some people just want to be miserable and could never give kelly even an ounce of credit at this point but securing a top 15 class after a 4-8 season with as much assistant coaching turnover as they had is impressive.

I was convinced that if they didn't fire him we would have to accept back to back bad classes which would take the program potentially back to Willingham territory but because this one was seemingly salvaged that wont be the case now even if he is fired

"Pretty damn good? "Impressive"? Jeez. Pollyanna, haven't you been reading anything on this board? It seems pretty clear that the expert consensus is: a) The 2017 ND class are a pack of woeful. pygmy sumbitches barely capable of being practice fodder at a major college football program; b) Coach Kelly will go down as one of greatest villains in history = Hitler, Vlad the Impaler, Lex Luther and BK; c) Tommy Rees - well, by rights he should just be euthanized; and d) the entire ND football program is a black hole of doom & despair, from whence no light can escape. So knock it off! :-P

If we improve on the field (and I fully expect us to) next year could be a great class. We have depth and need top end 5 star talent to go along with it. With our current construction there should be no reason why top pass rushers and a top corner wouldn't want to come. Also a five star receiver like St. Brown.

Maaaaaaan, 5 star pass rushers don't go to college to play school!

I'll tell you what... if he had played school a little more he would have been smart enough to go pro after his couple of good games and raked in that first or second round money instead of fourth.

I preface this by saying that I am certainly not so well informed on the ratings or evaluation process that goes into these rankings. I do know that historically we seem to end up worse thN projected when we have a "stellar class" and better than expected when we hit the "middle of the pack" or do " less than hoped". So ... With that in mind... I come back to what I have learned in the past 15 years. We have mostly missed on coaching, not recruits.
