FaithInIrish Forever
New Cat and Dog. Why in the world would I show you a 2016 Wake Forest Depth Chart? Well because the position names and the profile of the player(Height Weight) gives you clues about the system http://www.bloggersodear.com/2016/8/26/12662700/wake-forest-football-depth-chart-2016-dave-clawson-john-wolford-cade-carney Buck on Wake forest averaged 6-2 235-240 an OLB that can put his hand down for pass rush, that sounds like Daelin Hayes and Jamir Jones Rover averages 6-1 220, that sounds like a 3rd safety. Can drop in to 3 deep pass coverage or blitz with with speed. This guy is seemingly meant to confuse the offense So in reality people might see some 3-3-5 or they could sub a heavier player in there to set the edge.. I think Nicco Fertitta would be a good rover. I can see why this defense was good against the pass found a full game that elko called defense below. Really liking what I see!!!! NDMJ1984
I actually think the rover sounds like the ideal spot for guys like Tranquill, Spencer Perry and DJ Morgan. A few posters on this board had concerns about where/how/if the later two fit in going forward, I think this spot is tailor made for their size and skill set. Yes it looks like a guy a large safety. You're right hadn't thought of the youngsters. I consider Tranquill and Fertitta similiar skillsets, hard hitters down hill players so that works too. golson5
I was actually more impressed with Fertitta than tranquil. Fertitta is more athletic than I thought. He's a lot smaller but he's quick and can hit. I like him as a player. Tranquil as a safety I do not like. He needs to be moved. He doesn't have the hips to cover the pass down field
SpeedsterX
Hey Faith, can you compare these to Alabama's players at the same positions? Or the #1 defense in the Country (not sure who that is)?
FaithInIrish Forever
Hey Faith, can you compare these to Alabama's players at the same positions? Or the #1 defense in the Country (not sure who that is)? Bama runs a similar structure to Elko. There Joker listed as Tim Williams is at 6-3 235 There SAM listed as Ryan Anderson is 6-2 252 Those are the two comparable to buck, so within 10 pounds or so Rover is called the STAR position at Bama its a nickelback fitzpatrick at 208. So Bama has better players but the size they are looking for is comparable on the edges. Now up front Bama outwaighs Wake by 20-50 pounds a man and to be honest we outweigh Wake by at least 20 at ND Bama Roster http://www.rolltide.com/roster.aspx?path=football&roster=131&sort=position

FaithInIrish Forever
I know Arande got a big deal at LSU, but teams that struggle to recruit to many 5 star DL's are going to more reduced fronts, so 3 down and less. You'll see old film of Arande for the Badgers, who don't get the recruits we do doing well enough for Arande to land at LSU. If you reduce the front you don't weaken coverage as much and the offensive has trouble locking in who to block. [ame] [/ame] I'll let Arande explain it, but Elko is from that school too,
Donjuan
Just hope ND doesn't get gashed for runs. Hesitation is the killer of this defensive alignment & so far we've seen a lot of hesitation from our LBs. Really hoping that was just scheme. If a LB hesitates, it's 5-7 yards easily for the ball-carrier. If we could get somebody on the line who can absorb double-teams and possibly a couple of disrupters, then we'll reduce these holes/splits for our LBs to fill. At this point, my concerns are very nominal, though. Any change seems like it should be for the better.. comparatively speaking. **by the way, wasn't this Nicco's last year? I thought he tweeted something about "bye, bye, ND!"
corysold
Hesitation comes from poor coaching. I'd assume better coaching will lead to quicker decisions.

I thought he tweeted something about "bye, bye, ND!" He should have 2 more years of eligibility left http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/nicco_fertitta_976670.html Yeah, all our players need to play with a higher motor for this or any scheme to be successful. Got to play with more intensity on Special Teams too. I will say Elko has a Chuck Martin kind of energy. Most Coaching stops he's been involved with the safeties. So the last line of defense is likely to get better. Schematically he is a midpoint between Diaco and BVG, we'll see..
FaithInIrish Forever
Wake vs Tulane.. 4 and 10, last play that mattered 4 point game. 6 of the front 7 threaten to blitz and the back 5 are guarding the first down marker. Corners aren't playing tight yet because they are still 50 yards away from the endzone. Diaco: Might have played a 2 deep zone and rushed 3 and dropped 8. BVG: Might have had the corners pressed and still sent that blitz. Elko: Gonna bring 6 and give the corners some margin for error. Force a shorter pass and rally to the ball. Result, sack, wake wins. VCDomer
Tranquil should be moved inside. He can't cover anybody in space. Tranquil should be a massage therapist. It's the only way he can get his hands on someone.
