Wow.. This really is big. Longo was Kelly's right hand man. I think Kelly may finally be serious. I know he should have done a lot of these moves last year, but we did play in a big bowl game and almost made the playoffs. Elko is now our DC, and just and interesting and important is our strength coach. Let's go after a guy from a proven program. A top assistant at these schools of we have to. Wisconsin, Stanford etc. teams that don't always get the highest rated players, but develop them physically, and teams that play physical football. I'd check Bamas top assistant as well.

Go get someone who can turn these kids into men, and play big boy football in the trenches.

Go ND! Excited for these changes.

Yup, people will knock on Kelly (justifiably so) that he should have made these changes much earlier (like last year)...but as they say...."Better late than never"

If this season made Kelly realize the changes that need to happen, then this season wasn't for nothing. Like our QBs I think Kelly has regressed as a coach , and maybe grew tired from this job. But if this slap in the face of a season, lit a fire under him again, then this was a good season. I think if he can get the toughness back, and not just talk about it, we can be a top 10 team . He needs to not only change up our staff, but look at himself as well.

Maybe Kelly pulls the biggest turn around in coaching. I'm an optimist , anything is possible. First time since we lost to Texas, I'm excited for ND football.

Holy crap. That's the one thing I never in a million years thought Kelly would do. Either Jack forced him, or Kelly's actually afraid for his job.

He's not just coaching for his job. He's coaching for his career. If he wins 6 games next year he's fired and no one wants him. Despite the buyout, his reputation will be shot and there is no way he could live with that.

He is all in on next year.
