dangeruss 6
Justin Brent probably isn't back either. Matuska easily could move on too I wouldn't blame brent if he left. he seems like an incredible athlete and all he does is ride the bench. BK went out of his way to get cj prosise touches, I don't understand why he doesn't try to do this with brent (the are really the same type of athlete). He will graduate and may move on. Also possible he receives a medical.
NDMJ1984 0
If I had to guess, I would say Folston, Brent, Hunter, Matuska and either Bivin or McGovern would not be back. But again, I'll wait to update this until such transactions become official.

Synoptico 360
I've been keeping a rolling list of scholarship numbers. As we hit the home stretch of recruiting and transfer season, I figured I'd get this thread going so we can all keep track. As of today, including the recent transfers/non-returns of Holmes & Montelus, there are 88 players and currently committed recruits with eligibility remaining: QB - Kizer, Van Gorder, Wimbush, Book, Davis RB - Folston, J. Adams, Brent, Williams, T. Jones, McIntosh, Holmes WR - Hunter, Sanders, St. Brown, Boykin, Claypool, Finke, Stepherson, McKinley, Pouncey, Young TE - Luatua, Matuska, Smythe, Weishar, A. Jones, Kmet, Wright T - Bivin, McGlinchey, Bars, Eichenberg, Kraemer, Lugg G - McGovern, Byrne, Nelson, Ruhland, Boudreaux, Gibbons, Hainsey C - Mustipher, Hoge DE - Trumbetti, Bonner, J. Hayes, Kareen, D. Hayes, Ogundeji, Okwara, MacCollister DT - Cage, Mokwuah, Tillery, Dew-Treadway, Taylor, Tiassum, Hinish, Ewell OLB - Martini, Coney, Bilal, Jamir Jones MLB - N. Morgan, Barajas, Jon Jones, D. Adams, D. White S - Tranquill, Fertitta, Elliot, Studstill, Perry, D. Morgan, Robertson CB - Watkins, Coleman, Crawford, A. White, Pride, Love, Vaughn, Adebo, Hicks SP - Newsome, Yoon, Shannon If I missed anyone, please let me know. I'll update this as news becomes official that certain players won't return and as additional recruits (hopefully) join the fold. Isnt Hunter for sure not coming back? davislove 0
Cage struggled with his concussion also makes me put him on the list of guys that may not come back.
NDMJ1984 0
I forgot all about Devin Butler on the first iteration of this thread. Anyway, he is transferring to Syracuse so he won't be on the 2017 roster. Following the Banks commitment and Kizer going pro, the count remains at 88 players and commits with eligibility for next year. The first post has been updated to reflect these transactions (Banks is at tackle, which seems to be the consensus on his future position)
Irish_Convert 1
Hunter is out so 87.
jbrown_9999 1,125
Cage struggled with his concussion also makes me put him on the list of guys that may not come back. But if his brother comes to ND, then he might want to play another year if at all possible.
NDMJ1984 0
I've updated the first post in this thread to reflect recent transactions. I've also made a couple of positions changes to accommodate Elko's defensive scheme. The first is the creation of the Rover ("R") group, to which I've allocated Tranquill and Perry, who I believe best profile the position. The second is consolidating the linebacker group to one line, where it previously was separated by inside and outside. These are just my personal hunches as to how current players will fit in the new scheme, there's no science or inside knowledge behind it. 83 players/commits on scholarship as of today. Rover/secondary looking awfully thin.
irishrush 60
Has anybody ever been able to confirm that VG is still on scholarship? I was thinking walk on awards were year by year, or once you get it, is it yours for life - ie Finke?
jbrown_9999 1,125
Do we really have 7 TEs and only 8 WRs?
Jersey Irish 207
Also wanst he injured most of the year Yes, he was. That's why he can and should apply for a medical redshirt.
LasVegasIrish 0
Do we really have 7 TEs and only 8 WRs? That will change come signing day. It will more like 10-11 WR imo. Plus, Jones is more of a receiver anyways.
NDMJ1984 0
I've updated the first post in this thread for today's transactions. For now, I've allocated Tagovailoa-Amosa to defensive end, Genmark-Heath to rover and Owusu-Koramoah (aka Team Hyphen) to safety based on my own, uninformed assumptions. I'll re-assign them as their permanent positions become known. The count is 86 scholarship players at the moment. This includes Montgomery Van Gorder, whose actual scholarship status I'm unclear of. Thanks for the update. It doesn't matter for the scholarship numbers, obviously, but isn't Deon McIntosh at WR? I remember him being there during fall camp, but not sure if he moved back to RB. Also, I heard DJ Morgan as another candidate for Rover, but like you said, it's all guess-work at this point.
