Jersey Irish 207
Matt Rhule of Temple is the guy. Read this and you will see why. http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/how-temples-matt-rhule-became-a-hot-coaching-commodity-113016
edcubby 2
I'm a Philly guy...born here and I still live here in the city. I've met Coach Rhule several times...I've watched his 3 hour spring practices personally...the guy has "it". However, his whole family is now connected with Temple. But he would jump if ND came calling. I believe he was waiting for Penn St to pop open but Franklin saved himself. Then I'm gun shy because as I watched the end of the Weis era and saw Cincinati play fast and exciting football I really wanted BK but the last 4 years I've seen BK fade...and I'm not sure why. I'm still waiting for that BK to show up in South Bend.

JTennant 290
I don't think there are more than 4-5 coaches that are worth getting excited over...

What Kelly and Cincy did in the Big East, can't be done against the teams ND plays year in and year out

Kellyisit 0
I don't think there are more than 4-5 coaches that are worth getting excited over... A new coach brings hope which brings excitement, at least for a year or two. I would be more excited for 2017 with pretty much any other coach that is currently employed. If Kelly stays, and hires from within for DC, fan excitement is going to be at an all time low and may border on apathy.

Bring in Matt Rhule I will be as excited as if BK stays. I just wanna see it, and I'm tired of losing sleep over this crap
Franco 0
But what Rhule does can. That's the difference. I can agree with this. Defensive minded head coaches can translate well to the bigger schools Defensive minded assistant coaches that move on to head coaching jobs is more of a crap shoot
edcubby 2
Matt Rhule will be a success at Temple, ND, Purdue, or State College HS.
ndomer4 532
If Rhule can beat Navy then he will get my attention a little more. I really like how tough they played us last year, still think he might be a year early. BK will be the coach we just need to hope for better assistants and pray everything will improve. Maybe this whole situation changed Kelly? Doubt it but that's all I can hope for.

It's easy to forget OSU and Michigan fell azz backwards into landing Meyer and Harbaugh. If Tressel didn't cover the tattoo scandal up, he'd still be coaching at OSU and if Harbaugh wasn't an azzhole, he'd be coaching in the NFL. It's frustrating waiting for that luck to come Notre Dame's way. Outside of the 2012 season and to a lesser extent 2002 & 2005, it's been tough. Fifth Horseman 0
Good article, I'm sold on reinstalling some toughness in the Fighting Irish.

ottawand 0
I can't believe Kelly is being retained, the university has quit. They don't care. Until I hear something official I am still holding out hope. Way too many articles out there blasting Kelly to believe that it's business as usual without confirmation from Swarbrick. Swarbrick could very easily put an end to all this speculation, hopefully there is something afoot that precludes him speaking out right now. Way too many articles out there blasting Kelly to believe that it's business as usual without confirmation from Swarbrick. I love those articles but at this point no unknown info is being disclosed. So obviously the admin doesn't care and Kelly continues to recruit. The university IMO is hunkered down and letting the storm pass. It is a horrible miscalculation on their part. But as time ticks on and more coaches are snatched up it is/has become abundantly clear they see nothing wrong with what is happening.
