Kelly is back next year like fuller was back for his senior year.

 

I just want to know what the expectations would be next season if he is brought back. I've seen people saying 9/10 wins or he's out, does anyone think this 4 win team is going to turn things around that much in 1 season? If so please pass me whatever you're smoking

Yeah the sign of a bad coach vs a good coach, been watching this same movie as you guys for awhile.

 

I don't know what happened but Kelly does not want to be here anymore and it is painfully obvious. I never liked him but he was never this bad. I think he called better games from 2010-2013, focused on the run way more it seems and went under center sometimes not always in shotgun.

 

We have no identity but what has Kelly ever hung his hat on? This offense always runs the same few running plays, I see no innovative or creative playcalling. He is predictable and has never had a great running offense and maybe the odd good passing offense. We have won here despite him with great athletes on offense ala Floyd, Riddick, Wood, Eifert, Adams, Prosise, Fuller, Kizer, Golson.

 

Actually wasn't the big thing with him at Cinci his up-tempo offense? If that's what made his teams successful why the hell haven't we seen that up-tempo offense in the last 7 years?

 

I wish this goof would just quit.

I really think Kelly is pumping so many excuses up Swarbricks butt that he will keep him ONE more year to try and salvage his decision to hire him. Honestly, I believe if it's Swarbricks decision, Kelly will have 1 more year and if it falls apart, he won't have a problem firing him. The only way I believe he'd fire him this year or after this season is if he has pressure from the BOT which I believe doesn't care that much and does not want to keep paying Kelly while paying another high priced coach.

Agree that it's about 95% certain Kelly won't be fired this year. And unless we aren't bowl eligible next year there's no guarantee Kelly won't be back for 2018. He's 100% certain to get 2018 if we go 8-4, 75% certain to get 2018 if we go 7-5 and probably about 50-50 to get 2018 if we go 6-6.

 

You people haven't done enough reading of the national media, which insists that his 59-30 record at ND is good and that Kelly definitely deserves another year.

What bothers me the most about this season is that I honestly can't think of one single game where we were not the most talented team on the field. All of the losses have been tight, all have swung on a handful of plays either not made (missed tackles, dropped passes) or just poor 2nd half adjustments. With a focused team that executes and adapts to the play calling of the other team, this ND team could easily be undefeated. The fact that they are not even bowl eligible is the result of one thing in my opinion....coaching...or lack thereof

Even if the talent is the problem that's BK's fault for not recruiting well enough. It's year 7 so all of the players are his recruits. And honestly BK's recruiting has been a bit subpar by ND's standards. Weis was actually a better recruiter than BK is. And Weis didn't even have recruiting experience since he came from the NFL.
