I know earlier, people lambasted the idea of Fleck coming to ND. Thoughts?

I like Fleck, I just feel like it may be too much too soon for the guy. Similar to BK coming from Cincinnati. ND is a different animal. It's just hard to tell if a guy is ready when you haven't seen him prepare for P5 teams on a consistent basis.

I get your drift but I think a great bridge to getting through to college kids and getting them to play at a high P5 level is enthusiasm and motivation. Fleck certainly has that aspect nailed down. Kelly doesn't have that "play for the coach" personality. Lou had it.

I like Fleck, his energy is different from pretty much every coach we've hired. He checks all the boxes and I think the type of guy he is is what this program needs. BK will be back so he should stay at WM next season and hopefully has a great year. We can hope BK gets fired or has another miracle season and ends up leaving somehow.

I was never a big fan of David Shaw but watched this from a teammate who shared on facebook this morning [ame]

[/ame] this guy knows how to win with the same type of guys we recruit. Also forgot he comes from the Harbaugh coaching tree. Winning without compromise, I have respect for Stanford ball even though I hate them almost more than any rival ATM.

Would not think of Shaw as a homerun hire but has sustained success at a high level school who is most similar to ND. Multiple BCS games won too and even this year I saw as them bombing and being a huge letdown but they still end up doing great. He would never leave though, Paolo Alto is beautiful and it's probably easier getting kids there than cold South Bend.

Unfortunately I agree, if we wait till after next year to get rid of Kelly, Fleck is gone. He is different then BK , in the way he reacts to the players. He doesn't come off as a CEO or a politician to me, he comes off as a high energy motivator. A guy kids will run through a wall for. This is the type of coach you need at ND imo. We go into hostile environments every year, and every game is a battle. You need a guy that will motivate you, and get you to play above your abilities at ND.

At this point it's a pipe dream. I'm a plumber by trade, so maybe lol.

I agree with what you said about shaw but they have an identity. Something I still don't see under Kelly.

I always question coaches who try to be everything. You have to have a philosophy and master it.
