hawaiiirish 62
There is more at stake historically for Kelly & Team in these last 2 games then it might seem.... Win one and we go 5 and 7 Faust /Davie even Holtz had a 5 win season so this HORRID year goes down as an ugly asterisk as kellys worst year and a highly disappointing season. Win 2 and the 6 win season moves up to terrible from a host of worse adjectives---and is NOT a losing season---with the CHANCE to go to and win a bowl game and somehow claw a WINNING season out this mess. WIN ZERO and finish 4 -8 And this season becomes NOTEWORTHY in a very negative way.....it will be the second worse season in over 50 years..... Only behind the Weis3-9---and that 3-9 team was NOT expected to be much while this team was preseason ranked # 10 So I think the strong case can be made that a 4-8 finish makes this season the WORST since ARA in 64 and the modern football era.... WAY TOO MUCH TALENT TO BE 4-8----WAAAY TOO MUCH!! Kelly needs to get these last 2---a tall order unfortunately. aloha
FaithInIrish Forever 5,568
feels strangely doable to me. I don't know the new/old(mostly Diaco) defense has me excited again and Kizer looks to be regaining his once shattered confidence. Adams has a gear that he's been missing since training camp. I could be in for a rude awakening but corners look good, linebackers look good, Jarron Jones was a force against Miami. The Irish are on the ropes, wouldn't it be awesome if they fought their way out?
vangordersmustache 63
It would be awesome if we won out. If Kelly is going to coach next year anyways, we might as well win these next 2 games . If Kizer can look like he did to start the year, stop throwing flat deep balls, I think we have a chance. USC looks good, and VA tech is a good football team as well. I don't want Kelly as our coach anymore, but I like the way these kids play. Go Irish! imroc 4
In the end, we still have a proven coach that can win the big games against top teams.

goirish83 0
I just have this sinking feeling that regardless of how these last 2 play out kelly will be back, i hope I'm wrong. Vt looks beatable after their performance yesterday but I still think usc will blow us out of the water. Unless we win out I just don't see how anyone can be excited for next year especially considering kelly will likely make zero staff changes which he has already hinted at. ottawand 0
The USC game is going to be tough to watch, I think we are looking at a beat-down from the Trojans. We have a punchers chance against VT, though I suspect we end up losing that game too.

ndomer4 532
VT is and should be beatable, a loss to a team like that after a beatdown from an option team is another ding for Kelly. On senior day too, I think we need that game so we go into USC with something to play for atleast. If Kelly can win out I won't have changed my mind on him but it helps him as that will be one of his better wins.

If this team goes 4-8 and was top ten at the start, it is s big black eye for Kelly.

The one silver lining to this season has been how the younger players have gotten significant PT. Guys like Love, Vaughn, Claypool, St.Brown, and Williams have gotten the chance to grow. Love looks like a diamond in the rough, someone who could be an AA by the time he's a Jr.
JTennant 290
If he wins three in a row and shows the locker room isn't lost, then I can see how some of you eternal optimists can make a case for giving him one more year, but I don't see how that even happens.
