i would like to see the team play more rookies to get them baptised so to speak we may find a north /south runner, as you know we will graduate over one third of our team, which means that were going to be needing some help from the young ones , so charlie get em ready. here come the irish. :D :D :D :D

Yeah, Charlie appreciates the advice...he'll talk w/ Haywood and get back w/ you.

MAY happen with a 'softer schedule' But Rick I think we have to TOUGHEN UP are veterans first before we can throw a newbie into the cannon mouth

look,

I know everybody wants to see what the young guys can do but

these kids are going through quite a change in culture what with

college courses and being away from home and their friends and families etc.

did any of you go to college? I nearly went home after the first two weeks.

It's a very difficult adjustment. And then to thrust them into major college action when they are still feeling their way around campus might be a bit much. Plus they've got a foot thick playbook to memorize.

It takes time to get acclimated.

If you think back to the holtz years, you usually didn't see much from the freshman until after midterms in mid- October.

give it time, fellas

give it time

I'm hoping the Early Enrollees can show something... especially James Aldridge. Also, Munir Prince seems to have his head screwed on right, so I'm hoping he'll have something to show as well.

RB seems to be a place where Freshman can make an immediate impact.

Of course, we really need the OL to be more consistent. Morton seems to be caught out of place a lot... I didn't notice that last year... did he play much last year?

Weis said in his latest presser that Aldridge will be practicing for real this week.

I'm thinking he'll see some action on Saturday

just so ya all know, Barrys going to graduate in 3 years at college (source: his mom) dont know if thats common for an ND player or not, but i found that impressive with all the schoolwork and football he has to do

i agree though, if we can prove ourselves now, when the schedule softens up id like to see Barry in there for a play or two :D  . ive learned probably not gonna happen this year, but theres always hope

how about we put up enough of a lead so the kids can get in? we are having enough problems with the seniors on this team, lets worry about them first and then worry about burning a fifth year on a wim.

if you look at the so called money players, Jeff, zibby, walker Quinn, i think that they gave up in the Michigan game after falling behind everyone of them were sulk-in and not showing the leadership that they are supposed to have, looked like a repeat till charlie got BQ and got his a$$ a little then and then only did Brady show some form of last years great season and Jeff finally was catching footballs some, zibby i think needs to get a lot better on DEFENSE, walker just doesnt seem to be able to run , as he dances the line is doing the best it can after playing great last year, but they are starting to show some improvement, we got a tough game this week and i don't think that were going to be ready or even dominate the boilermakers this year there playing good and want an irish victory so lads get ready. :D

and then worry about burning a fifth year on a wim.

very true forever...hadnt thought of that. good thought though id still like to see some frosh

Totally agree irishrick. I'm most disappointed in Zib & Shark... Zib is a captain, and if he sulks, the team takes a cue. Shark is a high profile personality.. and if he dogs it (like I thought he did in UM), then other players take note... those behaviours are selfish, IMO, and can screw with team chemistry.

Quinn is also a captain, and if he's playing nervous... the O won't be settled down.

I think Weis had to let those guys hit their "bottom" and realize that they had to play and win as a team. Weis laid it on the line... that this team was just going to be an "also-ran" ... I'm happy the team responded favorably. But I would hope that message doesn't have to come from Weis, it should come from Brady, Zib and Thomas... although I think the expectation from Brady & Zib is higher.

foreverirish, we lose a third of the team this year so we got to get some of these young players with a little playing time or we will be back in the old days of not winning again, had enough of that since coach Lou left, OK thats my point. and they way some of these seniors are playing maybe thats what we need to wake em up a little,. go irish :D

I hope Aldridge gets some time Saturday, I have been looking forward to seeing him out there

they will get to play against the academies, when would you put a freshman in? georgia tech? no. penn state we did play freshman when the game was out of reach. michigan no we couldnt just give up and say you wooped us here is our freshman. michigan state? no. we havent had a chance to put them in and be successful.

what happened when TW put in travis thomas in too early, he fumbled twice and never saw the field that year. distroyed his confidance, and now he is a linebacker. you have to be careful about when you put them in. it has to be in a situation where they can be sucessful.

this crap of being away from home ,family, studies ,is a little bit of crap in my mind ,just look at all the troops, that leave home get in shape ,train alittle then sent into battle, come on lets get real, just get tough, ask sj and a few us us that sent their kids off to war ,have been there and done that, don't worry about the poor kids at notre dame they should be tough just to get accepted, so lets not baby them ,put them under fire, just look at florida and coach Meyer , tebow played QB there last week and the former golden boy of the wannabe irish played in the game for the razorbacks, get tough under fire boys enough said you can bet your last dollar that both of these young men will be much better next year and their teams will be in the top ten as SJ says we got to get tough i say your damn right. i am sure that charlie has a goal that he wants to follow as we have put in a few ,however i would like to see more i don't want to go through the dry years again. go irish
