Wonder what kinda bowl we get at 7-5. I see 6-6 realistically, v tech and usc will be tough. I can see us winning both, losing both and even splitting.

At 7-5 I have to think we are just outside the top 25, depends where usc is if we beat them. Some bowl against another 7-8 win power 5 school.

Yes I still would want him gone, I just won't complain as it is unlikely to change the fact he isn't going anywhere.

I wanted BVG gone a lot more than I ever wanted Kelly gone.

I just thought he'd be so loyal that they would both need to happen at the same time.

Now I'm beginning to see the talent on defense match what the recruiting rankings suggest. I'm fine.

I'm hoping he makes Hudson and Elston Co-DC's (basically how it is now) and hires someone to coach outside linebackers again(I think the 3-4, calls for an OLB/safeties coach)

Who knows it could be Chuck Martin, he's not doing so hot at Miami of Ohio

Chris Petersen? Larry Fedora? PJ Fleck?

I've been a BK supporter the whole way until he showed this year that he has given up...

If he can right this ship this year and get us to a bowl game and a chance to build for next year, I'm happy keeping him another year unless we can smack a homerun hire out of the park.. I don't know that Fedora would be much of an upgrade given our situation at Notre Dame.. Chapel Hill is a whole different ballgame.

PJ Fleck is more than likely going to be a great college football coach, but I don't think it's worth getting rid of BK for him at this juncture..

just my "gut" feeling

Petersen isn't coming to SB. He made it clear he wasn't really interested in chasing the $ or the high pressure environment. He had every big program knocking down his door while at Boise. He likes the pacific north west.

The fact that anyone would forgive Kelly with a 7-5 record baffles me. It would require BK to win out (he absolutely will not) and a 7 win finish would still clearly indicate that he is incapable of coaching this team.

His failure isnt just about wins and losses. Some are quick to forget that his mind-blowing gameday decisions, week to week adjustments (lack thereof), and arrogant demeanor are to blame for the steaming pile of sh|t we have been left with this season. A 7-5 Kelly is the same as a 3-9 Kelly to me. This week we were a FG and 30 seconds away from more dumpster fire threads about allowing Miami to come back and losing to yet another inferior team.

Personally, I didnt see much at all in terms of improvement since the loss at Stanford the week prior. That's how I know our current record can't be squarely blamed on BVG.

Btw, for those of you who are unaware, GVSU is undefeated this year with exactly the same margins of victory they had back when our illustrious coach was crowned DII savior.

Personally I still would want him gone because we've seen a big enough sample size after 7 years to know if hes capable of more or not and i dont think he is.

Plus before the year started 7 wins would've been a big time dissapointment.

But if he wins 6 or 7 he's not going anywhere so if they turn it around like that as a fan ill be happy to see a couple more wins and go into next year with some confidence especially with some staff changes. And then if he wins less than 9 again next year he'll probably be gone anyway so we'll either win a lot or he'll be gone, sounds like a win/win to me

I would need to see Kelly improving on the things he is responsible for, and that is more than just winning or losing. winning out including a bowl victory doesn't mean Kelly has done a good job or improved on his job. I think for years the team has won despite Kelly, so that could happen again through the rest of the season.

I don't know enough about Swarbrick, but an AD should be able to look beyond just wins and loses.

The losses this year continue to look worse by the week...

Texas? 4-4

A dumpster fire that will be firing their coach the second the clock ends on their last game.

MSU? 2-6

6 losses...0-5 in Integer play...inexcusable loss.

Duke? 3-5

Last place in their division, 0-4 in ACC play...should have been fired after this game, no excuse for Notre Dame coach in year 7 to lose THIS game...

NC State? 4-4

Lost 3 in a row since we could not snap a ball or punt without disaster...this game is the only one that I give even a hint of a pass on due to the hurricane, but the play calling in a tempest was vintage Kelly as stubborn mule.

Stanford? 4-3

2-3 in conference play...had them down 10-0 and then allowed a 17-10 loss from ahead. This is NOT a quality Stanford team either, they pretty much suck and we faced them WITHOUT McCafferty...another inexcusable loss.

That is 5 losses on a horrible schedule...this is one that even IF we were sitting at 8-0, we would be getting hammered for Strength of Schedule nonsense.

The question is not whether or not Kelly should go...he MUST go...the question is who the hell are they going to get to take his place? The job is now as tarnished as the program's standing in college football today.

7 years

1 good season (2012 - with a TON of breaks going FOR us that year...Pitt in particular)

1 acceptable season (2015)

5 unacceptable seasons (any year with >3 L's)

I do not expect undefeated every year, or playoffs or bust, but I DO expect that the head coach at the University of Notre Dame in his 7th year would have enough player development to avoid a **** storm of incompetence like we have seen.

Its not like he has run a program of non-controversy previously either...there have been MAJOR off-field problems with him too, none of which I care to relitigate now.

Brian Kelly has been and is a disaster. By the time he is eventually dismissed, it will be too late.

Not sure if anyone has compiled a list of games that ND has won by more than 14 points.

That to me is one mark of a great coach and I am guessing that Kelly does not have many such wins.

Winning big allows you to give backups playing time which helps their development and lowers the risk of starters getting injured.

It also minimizes the chance of a team losing a game due to something fluky like a blocked punt.
