In Urban's postgame presser he mentioned the teams that win are the ones that control the line of scrimmage. I can't remember the last time ND has controlled the LOS consistently. What's even sadder is our offense is seemingly designed with this in mind. Would love to get back to guys going forward.

They controlled the offensive line last year. Consistently.

Won't happen under Kelly. We are a "finesse" team lol.

I think 'consistently' means year after year. And I don't recall ND being dominant against Temple or Virginia last year either.

Don't forget Stanford and OSU sans Bosa and other first teamers. My constant compliant about our O since BK arrived, poor OL blocking scheme for any type of run. We have maulers if we would use them that way.

Perhaps not Temple, but I seem to remember huge gaping holes against Virginia last year...we were actually moving the ball at will at Virginia, but just kept shooting ourselves in the foot and was just plain out of sync for most of the game

Why did you say Kelly?

The OL coach is Hiestand.

Wasn't he hired by kelly? A head coach is fully responsible for the performance of his assistants. On top of that if you don't think kelly has a hand in the scheme of his offenses o line I'm not sure what to say

I agree with what you say but when I think of the reasons that our OL is not dominating, my first thought is of Hiestand.

If the OL was dominating, Hiestand would be getting 100% of the credit.

The Dark Cloud hanging over the team this season has definitely included the Oline but to suggest Heistand is a bad coach doesn't jive. This group hasn't come together as well as projected with some quotes from last week suggesting communication or quality of, has been lacking. However while struggling this year to land the uber big uglies, our record of success is pretty solid with NFL scouts saying they love ND linemen in large part due to the coaching and preparedness they have coming into the league. Recruiting, player development, a number of ND guys in the NFL, I think it's a bit of an overreach to suggest he needs to be fired. If Quinn can help next year in a coaching capacity, assign him to TE's end let Booker focus solely on ST's. But I fail to see the logic in blaming Harry. GO IRISH!
