He has got to be one of the worst running backs starting on a top 25 football progam. HE IS SLOW.....AND SLOW!!!!!!!!!!

Chucky needs to get James Aldridge or Munir Prince in the game. I am sick of seeing him dance around and get caught from behind! There is NOWAY we beat USC with him as our running back!!!!!!!!

el senor i completly dissagree. first if those kids were A. ready and B. better than him than they would be starting. how do two true freshmen pick up the pass blitz?with an already struggling o line, you need a guy like darius that will take the pressure off quinn. DW wouldnt dance if there was a hole to begin with right? why would he dance if there was a hole. a bad o line will make any rb look awful. this kid is the toughest guy on the team. plays through the beatings he takes because his offensive line is truly offensive. this kid had 1,200 yards rushing behind an average to good line last year. keep in mind he will be one of the only returning starters to come back next year. so you better get used to him or you might want to root for someone else. none of these kids will start over darius it is that simple.but i still love you el senor, just have a wexford and everything will be alright!!

sorry el senor but i to disagree....if you watched that (i believe 2004?) ND UM game, i think that was the beginning (atleast for me) of the Darius era....and its far from over. he'll come through. its the same with Brady, yesterday people were calling Brady off saying bring in Jimmy!Bring in Sharpley! but look what happened! this could be the turning point in the season for Brady, so i expect Darius to finish the season strong

So what you're saying is that #3 is lacking vitality in the motor department? Great pass blocker! 8)

chiro...i havent graduated frosh year of HS yet, therefore i dont know what the word vitality means :D sorry, but ill look it up now....then i will respond to the post

1. exuberant physical strength or mental vigor:

lacking phsyical strength in the motor dept? i can agree hes not the fastest back, but he reminds me of marshall faulk a little (if im thinking of the same Faulk as u guys) kinda jittery back, screens passes, etc.

and Faulk wasnt bad mind you......GREAT nfl career

Walker isnt the type of back i would like, but he is the best back on this team so far.

he isnt a power back like Bettis, nor is he really a burner who can run for 50+ yards like Bush was last year for USC. Walker is more the type who can move the chains, gain small yardage by small yardage.

sometimes Walker does frustrate me because i dont want to see him running sideways because speed defences can easily catch him. some plays he can dance around and struggle to get 1-2 yards, but then other plays he can get 10-15.

i noticed last year Walker i think seemed to be really good at the screen pass, but this year it seems like teams are stopping it more often

good points, i like walker i just wish he could get us a little more yardage per dance, if he is the best we got what did we get these other guys for heck give em a shot, Darius isn't playing like he did last year, but neither is the team the line is trying to get better, but i think we need to rotate some fresh players here and there through the entire team even Brady needs a blow now and then who is avail if he goes down or walker goes down, lets get ready to rumble and get some new legs in there. go irish

Total Crap! The line needs to open it up again for DW. I'd like to see him put up over 100 against Purdue..our running game has been atrocious. I think if CW thought the running problems were on Darius, he'd throw Travis in there or Munir. I guess he doesn't. I don't either. It's a team effort guys. How many 1,000yd guys get ripped at ND?

I like DW and think he is a class act and a very unselfish player.....BUT.....I do wish he was a bit faster. Case in point, on the sweep play for the 2-pt conversion, if that were one of those backs from Texas or USC they would have has that little extra ummmph that would have gotten across the goal line.

I think DW is very elusive, but not a threat to 'run away' from anyone's secondary like some backs we see.

Sorry Gallup but DW is nowhere near the player Faulk was in college. Faulk was a Reggie Bush type player...DW, not so much.

this is from blue and gold and from CW

1. Lay off of Darius Walker.

Despite the fact that the Irish rank near the bottom of the NCAA in rushing offense, Weis was quick to come to Walker’s defense on Sunday when asked about the possibility of freshman James Aldridge seeing time against Purdue.

“I definitely do not find Darius as being a problem, okay?” he said. “I think Darius is running hard. I think this problem is more of an offensive problem. It's a problem that we're going to have to work to rectify. One of the ways you could rectify it is by converting on some third downs and don't put yourself in those situations.”

Walker’s per-carry average against Michigan State was 4.3 yards, far better than it was against Penn State or Michigan. As Weis noted, it’s tough to expect a lot from the running game when you’re down by 17 points – so in a game like last night’s, Walker obviously wasn’t going to be getting a lot of carries.

“As I said before, I would like to be a running play-action team and run it 40 times,” the coach added. “If I had my way, that's what we'd do. It just doesn't work out that way.”

I watched Marshall Faulk rush for over 300 yards in a college game once. I cant remember who they played but he was Reggie Bush before Reggie Bush. Marshall was a dynamic college and pro player and will be an easy first ballot hall of famer!!! One of my all time favorite players!!!

DW is a good all purpose back. His speed sucks. Sorry guys. Do I think we need to bench him? No, but we do need some rotation. We need a big strong fast back who can make holes if none exist. Michigan State had one and I know all of you saw him the other night. I have never seen JA run a play so I'm not sure how he is going to play, but I would love to see someone step in there and give DW some help.

I do agree the O line is not helping DW's case.

Sorry Gallup but DW is nowhere near the player Faulk was in college. Faulk was a Reggie Bush type player...DW, not so much.

i never saw Faulk play in college, but maybe towards the older part of his career with the Rams? i thought faulk got more jiterry, and was good at screens

After an unbelievable game, one of the greatest comebacks in Notre Dame's history, an instant classic, we find the need to post an anti-Darius Walker thread.

Pretty bleepin sad!

Maybe the guys who total dislike Darius and have a better clue than Charlie Weis as to who to put into the game should coach somewhere on the collegiate level.

We say the MSU players and coaches are CLASSLESS for their words and actions, yet some feel the need to act the same way.

DW is a good back, he's just not getting the help from the OL.

Thank You Danger.

And this is coming from the most pessimistic poster on the DD.

I meant that as compliment Danger. If thats possible

no worries jersey :D .

This is just like all the Quinn-Bashing posts. Darius Walker is a big time running back running behind a poor offensive line. I don't understand why many of you feel the need to hate on our players. They got the job done, their 3-1. Weis obviously feels DW is the best running back on our roster, so until DW is riding the bench, I think he is pretty darn good. Oh yeah, that and the fact he has rushed for 2,082 yards and 16 TDs in less than 2 and a half years.
