Alteredboy
Been reading the board a long time, decided to finally jump in and add more commentary. Always liked our coach and appreciated some aspects of his stubbornness and/or arrogance. IT'S REALLY gotten old though. So here's a question for y'all : Is it possible that Kelly's arrogance could benefit the fanbase and the team? Can he be thinking, at all "F this, im NOT letting this be my legacy." I think he makes the changes necessary, as its too big of hits to the personality traits that he covets. Just a thought. Hell, he's here at until 2018, can't a dude let his mind wander and hope? The problem with Kelly is that everything is always someone else's fault and that has been the single most damaging flaw in his character. The second most damaging is that he doesn't trust other people. Unless someone has a serious come to Jesus moment with him, he is going to fall harder and harder. But you get what I'm saying right? It's one of those reaches I suppose. Im in MSU and U of M territory...... its been a bitching, so I'm grasping

Welcome to the forums... To be blunt, there is nothing good about Kelly remaining, not one damn thing. He is a disaster that has lost his team, blamed everyone but Mother Mary the Virgin herself and should have been dismissed after the Duke game. At this point, the only thing Brian Kelly will do now is sully the reputation of the program until it returns to the depths of despair last seen when 2007 hit 0-6 at the hands of Purdon't. If he had any honor at all, he would announce his resignation and offer to fall on his sword, but he is without honor, without hope, without a clue of what to do next other than cash the checks and flail about much like 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2016. 5 years out of 7 total and an average of 5 L's per campaign. Rockne, Leahy are spinning in their graves and I am sure Ara is about as happy as he was broadcasting the drubbing in the Orange Bowl during Faust's last game... NDNorm
I think because the last few years of the CW era were SO miserable, I talked myself into the BK era really being a little better than it has been. It felt better because of the '12 season, and of course the outside chance of a playoff bid last year going into the Stanford game.... ....But to think that the guy has now guaranteed (at least) 5 losses for 4 out of his 7 seasons here (with hardly any signature wins to speak of), is pretty damn depressing, compounded by the way this season has gone w/all the missteps and stupid comments/decisions. So yeah, it is slightly possible for him to do what you're suggesting while trying to improve his legacy here, but at the end of the day, he is who he is, so not sure how long it would even last. I'd like to see the W's as a fan of the TEAM, but I'm really done with him now and ready to move on.
KamaraPolice
As much as a loss is a loss, every game is close. Every game. Even the bad teams. With Charlie weis, any elite team we played against was so much overwhelmingly better, there was no hope. Other than the freak blowouts by USC and possibly asu, Alabama title game last years fiesta bowl were really the only Charlie weis era type losses. It is better under Kelly. Not saying it's good. But it's better than Charlie weis.
NDNorm
You're right, it is better...but only by comparison to the miserable Charlie years, which isn't too impressive. The losses are closer, but we primarily always figure out a way to come out on the wrong end. Signature wins are minuscule, and 5 loss seasons too plentiful. If the guy could do any better, I think he would have by now. I think we've got a pretty good grip on what he is 7 years in, and I don't know how he has this magical personal awakening that changes things around to be more of what we thought he'd be. But it's better than Charlie weis. That's like comparing if my morning **** smells worse than my evening ****. At the end of the day they both smell like **** so the difference would be too minuscule to matter. That's the problem too, coming close just doesn't and shouldn't cut it. However I speak for the majority of ND fans and not the University. Look Weis took us to 2 bcs bowls in 5 years too, and he atleast had us somewhat competitive in one of them. Kelly has really accomplished nothing to write home about in 7 years. He proved he can take us to a title and get blown out, same with 2015. Was the title game indicative of all the lucky break we got? Easily could have gone 7-5 that year if things have gone like they have recently with these 'close games'. He has less than a handful of signature wins, maybe 3 I can think of. If you count his two best years he had one nice win really with the Oklahoma game, a weak schedule has helped him. He is better than Weis but that's not saying much and it is also a little closer than some think. He beat some good teams too in Penn State, G tech, MSU but same with Kelly no signatures really. He's the most arrogant coach I've seen, he is not changing one bit I can guarantee you that. You see some of the negative comments former players have brought up and you realize how big a POS this guy really is. It is only getting worse, the sooner he goes the sooner we start the rebuild again.

The only requirement shouldn't be as long as you're better then the last 3 guys you can stick around as long as you want. I would hope he's held to a higher standard then that

ndomer4
Do they smell different? I have wondered but I am pretty much a once a day guy. Never checked because I know they both stink, just like Weis and Kelly. This is away from topic but about Kelly. I read a quote from a former CMU player who walked past him in the hall during his playing days. Kelly grabbed him by the shirt towards him and asked him how many tds he had. The guy said 4 and Kelly said I want you to know you could have ten if I wanted you too and then walked away... What a pig!

He let us go nude under under our vestments on hot sundays. That was my nickname so it just stuck.
