well fellas, we got what we deserved. ND has been exposed to be the greatly overrated bunch that some people had to feel that they were. I'm so disgusted I don't even know where to start. Unfortunately, I think that our gameplanning and playcalling, not to mention defensive setup is just getting undressed. I know players have to perform but I actually agree with the media sharks, ND has become much too predictable on offense, too finesse for sure, and the D isn't physical at all. Don't even get me started on the boneheaded penalties. It is simply mind-numbing.

Some suggestions for Charlie and the coaches:

- Jam WRs at the line of scrimmage?!?!

- Spread the field on offense.

- Don't make 90% of your runs draws.

- Blitz occasionally!

- Don't play zone defense, the worst defense in recorded history.

I'm sorry for going off here, but this is ridiculous. You can't tell me that all of our 'talent' just evaporated from this year to last this quickly. These guys are playing like JV high schoolers right now. Football is about heart and being physical and I don't see any of that right now. Unfortunately that means we are soon to be subjected to hearing dickheads like Mark May and Craig James run their mouth for another week. Awesome.

IrishNY, great post! I agree with EVERY SINGLE WORD!!!

No Probs IrishNY we suck

GUYS CATCH THE END OF THE GAME

GO IRISH

BRADY FOR HEISMAN

I'll take the win... but why can't we play like that at the beginning of the game.

I am very happy the D stepped up. And I'll give credit to Brady that he started thinking about the game than about expectations... totally different player between the two halves.

ok, a few thoughts here!

first off, my above post I still completely agree with and stand by. I'll have more on that end in the next few days.

HOWEVER

OMG!! I am literally shaking in shock and covered in goosebumps!! WHAT A COMEBACK!!!! Our team miraculously went from having no heart at all for 50 minutes to the most heart I have ever seen from anyone team I think!

A COMEBACK FOR THE AGES AND ONE OF THE BEST IN ND HISTORY!!!

unbelievable.

someone pinch me.

When ND crowded the box, and forced Stanton to throw, things started to go our way.

I think this bodes well for future matches... Our secondary can hold its own against a good QB & decent receivers. Sure, MSU OL is not great, but we should have forced the their OL into mistakes earlier.

It was all about hurrying the QB.

guys remember this we really don't play anyone till USC

i watched purdue today don't make me laugh

UCLA and Standford could put up fights but i just don't see it happening

this is the kind of win that gets the monkey off the teams back and this will bring them together, watch the confidence grow now

lets just hope the freshman continue to mature and that we can find a running game by USC, because without that we will be in trouble there

however, we got a long time to go till that point, enjoy tonight this was huge!

I think the biggest issue for me on this team is that they don't start games focussed and confident.... excepting PSU.

I am happy that the team never threw in the towel like last week. And I hope this game is a catalyst for great things to come.

The team is tough... but not nasty yet.. they did that swagger that says nothing and no one can stop them.

IrishNY, the nice thing is you never stopped believing in them.

bluester, I don't want to start things but I hope you aren't being sarcastic and implying that I said 'the hell with ND'.....quite the opposite my friend. I watched the ENTIRE game and never once turned away from my team. All my initial post is about is the lack of execution, preparedness, and the mental mistakes that have for the most part plagued us throughout this entire season. I'm still very upset over how we played for the most part last night altho the win was definitely thrilling. However, everyone of my points and complaints are obviously legitimate and plain to the common football fan in general.

Anyways, I hope you aren't 'calling me out' so to speak because any other fan would have said the hell with ND about midway thru the 3rd quarter last night and I certainly did not.

irishny.....i said my good luck "holy s*** were gonna lose" in the first quarter like i did in the first quarter of the G Tech game, and look how it turned out! im going to say that whenever were down in the first quarter from now on. (i watched the entire game also, and never missed a second for a bathroom break or food break. and i had faith once Carlson scored in the 2nd half)

I hear ya Gallup, I was doubtful myself....I agree with you. I said much the same type of thing to myself, particularly in the first half. All I'm saying is that just because someone chooses to critique football and his favorite team doesn't mean he is knocking them, while at the same time being a hypocrite and saying 'the hell with them, I'm not watching this crap.'

I'm sure we all were going crazy and were frusterated, but I'm just defending myself and saying I did watch the entire game, continue to believe, and hang in there, even if I did complain publicly here on DD.

Anyways, this all might just be pointless chatter unless bluester actually was knocking me, thats all.

Come on IrishNY I was doing Coach Dan's favorite Lombardi/Dan Devine "What the hell is going on here?" Comment waaaaay to often. I think guys overlooked, burried by blurbs are stepping up. New LEADERSHIP is what is needed from the rank and file nobodies.

Win, lose, or draw, I'll complain every time I see a Notre Dame team come out with no heart. Either you understand what it means to be a Notre Dame player or get on the bench. There was once a Notre Dame player who got on the field with heart alone. They made a movie about him.

great post Ace, couldn't agree more.

I agree Ace, but if you are implying that players on that field last night didn't have heart, you are a crazy person.

Hold on...... The guys did not have burning desire to win or heart till after the locker room meet then and only then did they step up. It's a qualityl lacking this year, I call it Team leadership which is not just your highly touted All American it's the crum sitting next to you that has to step up

Out of all the comments and commotion about last nights game, I'm the first one that noticed that Travis Thomas led the defense with 9 tackles ???I thought for sure some of you guys would notice that after a few thought it was a bad idea, lol. Travis is doing a very good job considering its his first year playing the position. I liked the 4-2-5 scheme that they were playing, I think it really helped us win this game, and D Walls did a superb job on Trannon, 2 short catches inb the second half, you cant ask for much more out of him.

darrin walls = future first round draft pick
