Love the Denson hire! I have a feeling he will be a great recruiter.

Love the Denson hire!

Dont know anything about him, so indifferent. Hopefully he puts a great product on the field and can recruit.

North Carolina was 34th in sacks in 2013 and 91st last year.

Hopefully he trends ND more towards 34th than 91st.

Indifferent to both hires.

I think Denson and I'll have some real input on finding creases and having patience in the hole. I love the hire. The Gilmore hire allowed for the Denson hire. Since it seems like he is a good recruiter in he south. Denson can slowly get acquainted now instead of being thrust into the situation.

Agree 100% plus Gilmore is another coach who Kelly is comfortable with having had him on some of his staffs before. He needed to find someone who could take care of the South recruiting-wise like Alford did and apparently thinks this is the guy. Loy has heard great things about him. And there is no one better to coach running backs then someone who was a star at the position and already has some collegiate experience coaching the position.

Good hires in my book.

Eh. The jury's out for me on Gilmore because I'm not familiar with him at all. The arrow is pointing slightly upward regarding Denson because of intangibles such as having experienced ND and having a presence in Florida. It sounds as though there is potential but nothing is certain.

Overall, I would have to say indifferent. Only time will tell.

guess bob elliots changing roles and elston to olb/recruiting coordinator Edit: Bob Elliot to recruiting office.

Mike Franks Guesses were

Mike Denbrock: Assistant head coach/Wide Receivers (possibly Co-oc as well)

Mike Sanford: QB/OC or Co-OC(Out west, when he can)

Autry Denson RB(Florida Recruiter)

Scott Booker TE/Special Teams(out west)

Harry HieStand OL(Recruits EVERY Offensive Lineman)

Brian VanGorder- Defensive Coordinator/ILB(who knows, south I guess, northeast probably as well)

Gilmore- DLine_ South

Elston- OLB/Recuiting Coordinator east coast, carolina's

Lyght- DB-Corner and Safety(if he's cooks its south-southwest)

I'm pretty excited about Autry Denson, all time leading rusher can speak directly to kids about the ND experience. He obviously has a long way to go to get to Alfords recruiting heights but his background in Florida should hopefully help on some of the in roads we have there.

Indifferent on the Gilmore hire but I like that he has a successful past with Kelly.

does any of this smell like a quiet house cleaning?

rarely see this much coaching turnover between seasons.

yup BVG is marginalizing Diaco's coaches. Elstons next step is you know where...

Alfords rep grew to big for his position. That was bound to happen..

It's like walking down main street of a town you have never been to before. Hungry as hell.... reading all the menus that are posted to the outside of the restaurants. At some point you are so hungry that it all sounds good. Then when you shove it down your throat, you decide later if you may have made the right or wrong decision.

Most coaching changes happen after NSD and the coaches are aware of the changes. It gives the assistants time to find a job or the HC a chance to find a replacement.

This is Kelly`s team and they will run his offense. I am sure that it was discussed with Sanford. Sanford will learn the playbook and any changes he makes will be with the approval of Kelly.

I do think that Sanford will be very much involved in the offensive game plan and might be given more authority as time passes. They have to understand and trust each other.

BVG has a lot more control over the defense than Sanford has over the offense. That could change in 2-3 years.

Denson is my only concern.

Love the Denson hire!
Agreed. Should be an outstanding hands on coach for the position and an excellent ambassador for the school. He also loves ND and bet he will put 110% into the new role.

Think the Gilmore hire will be fine. Supposed to be a good recruiter who gets prospects on campus. That will be always be one of ND's biggest strengths. Like the previous ties with Kelly here and he has 29 years of experience. Solid hire here.

I'm very pumped about the Denson hire. I think he'll be an excellent recruiter and great coach, but overall very unproven.

Gilmore...very indifferent..don't know much and haven't looked into it yet. I know there are a lot of offensive minds on staff but I still would have liked to have seen Quinn.

UNC boards all pretty much say the same thing about Gilmore. He's not the best recruiter out there but he's a really disciplined coach and can get a lot out of nothing.

Denson doesn't really have any history as of yet so it's hard to get intel on him other than "he played at ND and leads them in rushing."

I like the Denson hire and feel he can pass Alford in both aspects in time. Gilmore seems like a hire simply because of his past experience with Kelly at Cinci. Hope it translates to more than that...
