The more detailed story is in the South Bend Tribune.

BSPN just poached it.

Anyway, why should he coach anymore? Come the first of the month, he opens his mailbox and there's one fat check form Notre Dame and another fat check from Kansas.

I felt bad for Weis when he was fired but I knew it had to be done. I do think he was a good OC for NE although with Brady, just call a pass play and win most of the games.

He was a very poor college coach.

About time! There was no way he ever should have been a head coach, glad noone has to see that anymore. Was a good guy but a terrible head coach, would have been fine if he stayed at coordinator his whole career.

Charlie Weis was an abrasive "jersey" guy who never made friends anywhere he went. I'll always fondly remember '05/'06 seasons, his charitable efforts and his solid recruiting of top flight offensive players.

Other than that? He's proved himself a mediocre, at best, head coach and he's been more than handsomely rewarded for his efforts. Honestly, one of his more laudable talents is realizing that he's done and moving on quietly. It'd be a shame if such a great offensive coordinator spent the rest of his days coaching at like San Jose State as an OC.

He's a fraud. Always has been. Obviously he wasn't the "brain" behind Tom Brady, but he rode that connection for millions of dollars that he had no business receiving. He says he's through coaching. Big deal. Where else would he go? He failed at Florida as an assistant, and failed at one of the worst Div. 1 schools in football (with few expectations). High school coaching, perhaps? Who the hell would want this obnoxious tub-of-lard on their coaching staff in the college or pro ranks? What a waste of 5 years for ND. He's the coaching equivalent of JaMarcus Russell of LSU/Oakland Raiders infamy. Hope he chokes on every unearned dime.

He says, "I'm not mad at Notre Dame." WTF!!!! What the hell would you have reason to be mad at you sack of s**t!!! MAD!! Would you be "mad" because ND gave you FIVE full years to prove yourself and yet you still failed? Would you be "mad" because ND gave you a contract extension because you ALMOST beat USC? You sanctimonious sack of s**t!! You've got ZERO reasons to be mad, as*hole. You had your chance and did nothing with it. How dare you even entertain the question of being mad at any university that instilled their trust in you only to be terribly disappointed in your result. Have you no shame, Mr. Weis? Yeah, Mr., and not Coach, because you've never deserved that title in the college ranks.

High praise, indeed. Thank you...I do feel better. :)

Some of you guys need to get lives.

Some of you guys need to get lives.

Which ones?

Which ones?

NicePost, for sure.

How does anyone get so worked up about such things?

His offenses were fun to watch, but he certainly wasn't head coach material. Too bad ND had to find that out first. Best of luck with his future endeavors.

Lol.........,

Ditto. At least he worked hard, unlike Ty.

Hmm. There is no ex-ND head coach coaching any more. Does that say something?

Bob Davie is coaching at New Mexico.

George O'Leary is coaching too...

Not really, No ex OSU head coaches, FSU, and probably many more. Not sure where you were going but it was a stretch.

You may not be counting George O'leary (I don't) but isn't Davie still coaching somewhere out west?

Not surprised by this at all. Dude loved ND, and his offenses were fun. However, he was never a great head coach. Appreciated his efforts and passion for ND though.

Oh!! No!!....

He has a decided schematic advantage with retirement.
