Kelly said today:Brian Kelly, joking: "At times I'd like our admissions office to admit whoever I want. That's not gonna happen at #NotreDame." How frustrating it must be That's one area I have almost zero complaints with. I think he has done a fantastic overall job recruiting since arriving here. When you think about what goes in to the process and some of our obvious obstacles, I do appreciate what they bring in.
February 4, 201510 yr He has done well so far. Besides that is how Notre Dame sets it apart from the other schools. Sure, we will miss out on a couple 5* players, but I think integrity is under-appreciated these days.
February 4, 201510 yr Agree 33 and not all fans understand this. Those that clamor for a top 3 class yearly just don't get it.

February 5, 201510 yr Recruiting has been solid under Kelly. It is frustrating when a kid wants to go to ND, but can't pass the Admissions standards. However, I think any halfway decent student could get through the Admissions process for football players. I think the "rigor" is overblown, it's more of an indication how low the expectations are for kids in this era.
February 5, 201510 yr A lot of hogwash. If a recruit is a good kid that has less than stellar grades, by no means is the program demeaned by letting him in. Tony Rice, Chris Zorich (an ND law school grad), Michael Stonebreaker, and many other Holtz era players would never make it in under today's admissions standards. Not only did these guys not demean the program, they enriched it greatly. Let's get off our high horses, worry about more than the average SAT scores of our players and realize that a kid who is willing to put in the work and be a meaningful contributor to the program and the Notre Dame community, should be welcomed with open arms.

February 5, 201510 yr Big: Where can I find his video? Check out the 2015 recruiting prospects thread. Big posted all of them at the end of it. As for ND's challenges recruiting, the one thing that really bothers me is that there are high schools and entire regions that will never produce a kid that could get into ND. That's just a fact. The kids have no chance because of certain classes not being offered, no advisors, no test prep, etc... So there are plenty of kids smart enough for ND that will never have a chance of attending. And a lot of those crappy academic schools/areas produce elite football players. (Public schools in Ala, Ga, La etc... Schools in Cleveland...list goes on).

This is why we need to take another look at the admission requirements. It's a different environment now in recruiting, football and scholastics. Let's adapt and evolve where we need to.
