Posted February 4, 201510 yr Just saw a tweet to coachingsearch.com suggesting Hoke will join the staff after signing day. Does anyone have any insight into this?
February 4, 201510 yr I just saw that too. Huh? If I remember correctly, he was obviously fairly successful before going to UM and he must have been a good recruiter.
February 4, 201510 yr it is notre dame's biggest signing of the day!! http://notredame.247sports.com/Bolt/REPORT-Brady-Hoke-Joining-Notre-Dame-Staff-35359120
February 4, 201510 yr Wow. If true, consider me shocked. That's about the last person I would have expected.
February 4, 201510 yr Seems that he has mainly coached Defensive Line as a position coach. Not sure what his role will be for ND
February 4, 201510 yr He's got that Grand Valley State connection. He's definitely been a defensive coach. I'm surprised but actually do like the move.
February 4, 201510 yr Definitely out of left field, but why not? Wonder if that means a couple of UM commits are going to flip?
February 4, 201510 yr Well Elston was a finalist for the CMU head coaching gig and rumor is that Hoke will be the DL coach, so it looks as if Elston got the gig.
February 4, 201510 yr Man, after all those shots at Hoke, we now have to embrace him? LOL Someone on here has a signature pic of Hoke getting teabagged! Better take it down. LOL
February 4, 201510 yr First saw this on another site and why I came here to see if it had legs...WOW! If true, actually a great hire as a DL coach, very good recruiter and clear to some of Kelly's naysayers, he is willing and able to think outside of his "box" and get one of the better available. Was unaware of the Elston rumors but could have a great impact on some of the Michigan kids they tend to lock down. Where's Piratey on this?? *Note* Michigan media has picked it up and sounds like a done deal. Also did not realize Hoke coached at GVSU previously so may have to reframe my comment about Kelly reaching out beyond his coaching tree but not sure if it was under him or Martin. Still like the decision both on the field and on the trail. Edited February 4, 201510 yr by AtLeastMySisWasIrish Updated Information
February 4, 201510 yr sounds like this is a good move by ND. but why is this the time? wouldn't it have been better say weeks ago and maybe it could have helped recruiting for this years class?
February 4, 201510 yr I'm not going to say 'great move' quite yet...he never coached up his players at UM, so why do you think he'll start now?
February 4, 201510 yr I'm not going to say 'great move' quite yet...he never coached up his players at UM, so why do you think he'll start now? we just hired a former head coach at one of the most prestigious schools in the entire country to coach defense and we are criticizing the move? my god youre fn dumber than my dick
February 4, 201510 yr we just hired a former head coach at one of the most prestigious schools in the entire country to coach defense and we are criticizing the move? my god youre fn dumber than my dick wow. it's not like he was a great coach at Michigan...his final season was how bad? every Michigan fan I've been around has done nothing but complain about his lack of player development, and a blind person could see that...so, would you like to retract the 'dumber than my dick' statement or are you happy with a mediocre coach that couldn't develop talent joining the staff?
