I just don't get that last play. I mean, as many times as I see the replays it just boggles my mind.

Of course I'm referring to the fact that there was no flag for offensive pass interference. I mean, you can't run a pick play with the game on the line and not expect the referees to throw a flag there.

(Yep, I'm not over FSU.)

I thought the last play of the Super Bowl was a kneel down by Brady.

Just saw an interesting stat about this... 109 passes were thrown in the NFL from the 1 yard line this year. That was the first one that was intercepted.

and Lynch had run it 5 times inside the 1-yard line this year and had only scored once.

I'd like to say I would have run it there and make the Patriots try to beat my "best defense in the league" with 25 seconds.

I get Pete Carroll's reasoning. Wilson also didn't execute the play that well. Ball should have come out much earlier, IMO.

But above all else, Slater made a great read and play on that ball.

He EXECUTED better than the Seahawks did.

Not much controversy. Every one of the commenters said it was a terrible call. Pete Carroll said "“There’s really nobody to blame but me”, implying it was a mistake." The Seattle Times called it the worst call in Super Bowl history.

Of course, people here will argue for the wisdom of the call. LOL

BTW: Marshawn Lynch is the closest thing to Jim Brown I've ever seen.

It's only a bad call because it didn't work.

The reason it didn't work was because a defender made a great play.

Had the play worked, no one would be saying jack about not handing the ball off to the crotch grabber.

Personally, I think the offense and the play call are getting way too much blame in this situation. The defender made a play that not many would have made...

Malcolm Butler made the play. Undrafted rookie.

You play for the win. Giving the ball to Lynch on the next two-three plays would guarantee that. Especially, with having a timeout. They blew it. No question. Lynch will get one yard on three carries.

Frankus's, I've never seen Brown play, only on highlights. The same with Earl Campbell. Wouldn't Cambell be a better comparison?

No one? A lot of us would still be scratching our heads. BTW how do you know what everyone thinks?

the last play was 2010 ND-Tulsa all over again.

reminded me of the 2014 UGA vs USCe game.

you sound just like me 8-)

Instead of running out the clock - run the ball and let your D win if you score. They took too much time like it was a given, allowing the D to figure the play out.

they let clock run to "not score too soon"

and counted the chickens before they hatched by doing so

I would've ran Wilson out of the shotgun

or tried a sneak from under center then

still have had 30 or 40 seconds and with 1 timeout

could've tried at least 2 more plays, right?

1 run with lynch

only pass after you've used timeout

It's only a bad call because it didn't work.

If the run the ball with Lynch 3 times from the 1 no one is questioning the call. I think that's the biggest difference.

BK is like "goal line? ya gotta run 4 fade routes to the corner"

Very funny and remarkably true

Lynch is one of the few guys - to get one little yard - who I think you can basically tell the defense this is what we're doing, try and stop it. I saw it kind like Nolan Ryan trying to get cute with a curve ball when he's got a guy down 0-2 throwing bee-bees, and one more strike is needed to win the world series.

I also thought how would I - and all Irish fans feel - if that was us in the national championship game, and Folston (or Bryant) had the rep that Lynch has, and we chose to run that same play and lose the championship on an interception from the 1 yd line? I can't even fathom the thought.

The only saving grace here is that they (Seattle) got their ring last year.

and Lynch had run it 5 times inside the 1-yard line this year and had only scored once.

.

But the Pats gave up TDs on 5 of 6 runs from the 1 and the Hawks had the momentum. At least run the read option to Lynch and Wilson can run for the corner if the D bites on the dive.

Worst call I've ever seen for 3 reasons:

1. You have Marshawn Lynch, whom you've counted on for the past 3 successful years.

2. The box was stacked against the run, so why throw it into said stacked box?

3. You run a serious risk of offensive pass interference at the goal line running a rub route.

That play was so egregiously bad, it's going to affect the franchise. I'm serious.
