ND coaches have reached out and looking into his grades in an attempt to offer him as they continue to try and land another safety. He's committed to Tulsa right now, but is visiting Minnesota on the 30th. Not much time before NSD for ND to get him on campus.

Lay off man and do a little research before you insult this kid. 17-18 year olds deserve that. I don't have a problem with this offer (at this point) at all and hope this kid strongly considers ND.

Great read about Whitfield here:

He is tall as hell for a safety. His film really isn't too bad, he isn't playing against very good competition from the looks of it. His running style is weird, but he runs away from everyone so he must be fairly fast.

three stars dont mean he will be awful.

plenty of three stars have been amazing in college.

Notre Dame's greatest TE ever (statistically speaking).

Thank you. Recruiting services are simply a tool. That's it. Watch this kid's tape and give him a real chance. SMH. No, he's not the next Ronnie Lott but the kid can definitely help the program.

I said this a few weeks ago and I'll say it again...I love that the staff is trying so hard to land a safety no matter who it is. They realize they need secondary help and are trying hard to fix that problem. Hard to get mad at the staff for that.

After reading that article sign me up. This staff has done a great job in finding gems. Hopefully this can be another one. With McKinney gone, I wouldn't mind taking one of Reid/Farrar/Buncom etc. along with Whitfield. Get some bodies in there.

I have 5 letters out there for all you overreacting fans in Domerland to posts:

R-E-L-A-X , Rellllaaaaxxxx . Relax, this is a forum where joking is allowed. We're going to be ok.

So that's what the bottom of the barrel looks like.

I like this tongue in cheek response. I didn't see it as a real freak out. As long as we win the recruiting battle against Tulsa/Minnesota I am ok.

Lose that fight then I am going to bake up a batch of frownies.

FWIW, when this came out the ND coaches hadn't even seen his film and possibly still haven't. Dave Peloquin, Director of Player Personnel, is the one who reached out to him and that is part of Dave's job. He will review the film later with BK and other coaches. They are just searching for players potentially under the radar late in the game by reviewing senior film. All other current prospects would have to say no for it to happen, which is possible.

I'm not looking at his stars when I say what I said.

Unbelievable that we actually criticize this unique and gifted athlete. II has him a high 3 star. This kid can flat out run and has great length and athleticism. I think he is a better athlete than McKinney at least potentially. When he hits the weights at whatever school his stature will accelerate rapidly. He has never had good weight training. Just a very raw but superior athlete.

These are highlight reels , they are always gonna look good. Never seen a recruit yet miss a tackle or throw an interception in those vids.

Do I have to say Deeb?

And how is Chris badger not an All American because he was a hard hitting tackling machine so says his "film".

You also gonna see a lot of kids get upgraded and praised this time of the year. Recruiting sites can't make money by saying ND is scraping the bottom of the barrel right?

A. Eifert had at least 10 BCS offers. This kid has two.

B. Yes, we all know JJ Watt was an under recruited 2*, so were the other 18,000 kids each year that don't become JJ Watt.

C. The class is almost full. Everyone said Heggie didn't matter, but that is one less kid in next years class who might actually play.

That no other BCS program wants but a couple of low end Big 10 schools.

I'm all for under the radar kids, but when no one in the Big 12 thinks you are good enough to offer and you are from Oklahoma, well, that says more than 3 minutes of highlights.

I hope the kid becomes a star, but chances are he won't.

Supposedly, Oklahoma coaches are visiting him this week.:smash:

looking at the crystal ball?

looking at the crystal ball?

I'm looking at his offer list and I'm looking at the fact that ND is considering recruiting a kid that the teams they *should* be competing with for national titles don't even know exists. The only reason ND swipes a Tulsa recruit, and beats out Minnesota to do it, is because they boned this things up and they just need a body.

The reason they're looking at him at all is because they botched safety recruiting badly this year. Prentice didn't take care of his business, true, but neither did Notre Dame. This was a situation that could have been accounted for a lot earlier than January 23, 2015.

Does anything I think matter to Notre Dame? Nope, and nor should it. But it doesn't mean that I'm not going to get a headache from rolling my eyes so hard.
