We are only a few weeks away before closing day...
Here are my best indications of what to expect:
1. Dexter Williams, Irish - 4 star running back adds immediate speed and could compare to Theo Riddick in his role on offense. The top Three RB's on next year's depth chart will all be from the sunshine state...
2. Equinameous St. Brown, Irish 4 star wide receiver brings legit size...6'4+ will be a developmental player who has better feet than Corey Robinson, but is still raw and needs to prove his 10" hands are reliable...
3. Rob Dowdy, West Virginia, 3 star jumbo athlete has a coveted 6'6 280# frame with a basketball background and intriguing prospect. ND came in too late on this, but with Tillery enroll in early... The immediate roster is not impacted.
4. Iman Marshall, USC, 5 star talent from Cali rides the attention of being an ND recruit and opts to stay in SoCal... No real surprise, but the kid is gonna be really good.
5. Cordell Broadus, USC, 4 star receiver, 5 star headline grabber...teammates and friends with Alize Jones, Nico Fertitta and Ronnie Stanley. I think Broadus is ND's nearest miss in this class. I could see Michigan sneak into the picture here too. Notre Dame has the best support structure and campus atmosphere for "celebrity students" and that could play big
6. Mekhi Brown, BAMA, 4 star DE/OLB, US AAA, Notre Dame had a recent in home visit from Notre Dame, seems that we finish in a respected second place, a transfer name to watch down the road
7. Soso Jamobo, UCLA, 5 star RB... This one stings a bit as I think this kid is the next Ricky Williams. Powerful, durable, physically ready to play on day one of being on campus. Myles Jack and Soso next year will be an impressive duo
8. Prince Tega Wanogho Jr., AUBURN, 4 star DE... Best described as Prince Schembo in Mike McGlinchey's body... 6'8 265 and plays with good pad level. A fun prospect to follow...reclassified to 2015 made his recruitment a condensed process.
9. Arrington Farrar, IRISH land 4 star safety out of the grasp of Stanford...Farrar is a welcomed addition at a position of concern...helps the sting of losing McKinney
10. Justin Reid, Stanford, 3 star LSU legacy safety...nice player, but I will take Farrar three times out of 4
11. KeShawn Vaughn, Purdue, 3 star Nashville RB with good film, speed is questionable, but looks the part...Purdue coaches have done a nice job with Vaughn and he will be a nice player for them.
12. Nathan Meadors, UCLA, S / Ath - Quick twitch athlete will be a contributor for UCLA early
I don't think there is anyone else on the radar at this point, but I would keep an eye out for "RKG" types at LB, TE or RB...
Really stretching it out here, but
Robert Brown, 2 star DT, 6'1 345# recruit initially in contact with coach Cooks... Mokwuah isn't gonna make an impact, but it's been shown the coaches like one oversized DT in every class and Brown may be worth a gamble..????
