Who was the best tight end in Notre Dame history? This poll is created, because some people have really short memories, i.e. how the hell is Tyler Eifert the BEST tight end in Notre Dame history? Even among recent peers, he can't overcome Kyle Rudolph who is the best of the past ten years. Looking back further, Notre Dame has had some STUDS who were first round picks and real badasses.

I really liked ant fasano too

Derek Brown? John Carlson?

While at ND Eifert was the most productive look at the stats. Rudy, while a stud really didn't have the production, although he projected as a better pro with his size and strength. As rocket said though you left some other studs off the list.

I agree. I found it difficult putting him up there with some of the others, though.

Derek Brown's on there. I didn't want to load this too much with recent TEs when you consider how great other TEs were in our history.

While Eifert was the most productive at receiving, he wasn't the most productive at playing the position when all stats are considered.

My fave is probably Andy Heck...

I liked him too even though he cost us the USC game.

Greg Olsen?

:-P

I eschewed stats and went with Dave Casper. All-American, Offensive MVP of the '73 championship team, college and pro football hall of fame. I wasn't even an Irish fan in those days but it was obvious how good of a player he was at the time and that carried over to the NFL.

From a pure stats standpoint, Eifert then Carlson. I liked Rudolph a lot but he had trouble staying on the field two out of the three seasons that he played.

Leon Hart. Never lost at ND, Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Trophy, 3 NCs, ist draft pick, College HOF, 3 NFL Championships, - started Tight End U - also played defense.

Why put Eifert in the poll then? ;)

It's a tough choice, but I am going with Dave Casper. He was phenomenal.

This poll should be re-titled "How Old Are You?"

So you're saying he's qualified? :)

my favorite TE was pete chryplewicz.

but I would say that tyler eifert was probably the best I've seen play at ND. he was a match up problem for everybody.

How about Jabari Halloway for winning us the '99 SC game?

so many great choices..I give slight edge to Rudolph

Yeah, i wouldnt have voted but he needs mention ;)

I thought the samething but I went with Bavarro who I barely saw play :)

Eifert was like a bigger Jeff Samardjiza. Great hands and leaping ability.

Speaking of TEs..if what people are saying about the two TE's offense is right, Alize and Luatua would be HUGE blockers for the run game.
