Yeah there is a lot to be excited about next year.

I'm gonna try to curb my optimism for May because it isn't healthy.

This is the best end to a season and start to an offseason we have had for quite a while. I do always have that impending sense of doom, so I am trying not to be too optimistic....

Nobody else say one more thing about this. DONT JINX THE GOOD START!

Just had a friend call me and tell me about this great thread on DD about momentum. I asked him, 'Is it Faith's'... He didn't know, he doesn't look at the names. anyway, great thread and yes we have tons of momentum. This offensive line with Malik at the controls could be very much like Ohio State. Time to be pumped. Wish it were time for spring ball.

There has been a small flood of positive news that hopefully will continue through signing day, and spring---but that's just a hope after the off seasons we have been through lately.

As far as the OLINE is concerned , on paper it looks good, but our OLINE underperformed by LEAPS AND BOUNDS this last season---execution, coaching et al seemed to fall far short....

OLINE needs to prove itself on the field---not in the spring but in the fall of 2015 otherwise we are looking at NOTHING MORE then potential. We are a LONG LONG way from fielding the an OLINE on a par with OSU !

McGlinchey played great against LSU and we literally ran it down their throats. The problems early on at right tackle are solved and with Stanley coming back I see 'potentially' the bet line in many years. Hard not to get pumped with all these guys coming back and the way we played against LSU.

dont worry, there will be a flood of negativity soon. Especially with NSD coming up

Over/under on threads that basically say: "Kelly cannot recruit" or "this class sucks." -- Ill set it at 6.5

So very true. It always starts up front. But as Okie stated, Mcglinchey did perform well. Stanley coming back and all others with a true year under their belt. It all looks "promising." Very pumped for next season.

Think about that

2014: 65 starts on OL/DL

2015 141 starts on OL/DL

Double the experience in power positions should matter.

Power takes Patience

I just feel good about it. I can't help it. Those 5 that practiced together for the bowl game are your 5 on the offensive line. 6 and 7 Average 6'5 and 320ish

Guys like Pete Mokwuah, Daniel Cage, Jarron Jones and Jerry Tillery and possibly Ishaq Williams and Jhonny Williams add in 4 cases size and 2 cases some pass rush to a group that needs both.

Hopefully Russell for Riggs and away we go

I believe this is the second 3 year Cycle. I always have held that College Football teams at most times are pretty cyclical.

For instance I would argue losing Stephon Tuitt's production and work volume cost us 2 wins this year.

I remember my thread title now "Tuitt just knocked the wind out of me"

Stanley and Day put that wind back.

I know many of you feel like I'm full of hot air now. But so be it.

Speaking of momentum, with Ali'ze Jones we have another weapon for 2015. This is a rare talent. Momentum keeps coming and now I want a running back and St. Brown.

yup Okie Good things begat more good things. We might be able to look at this LSU Bowl Game victory as another turning point

We were on a steady rise until Bama turned us down and now were turned back up hill.

I remember when I was celebrating the Hawaii Bowl victory like nobodies business. Now we've quietly won 2 bowl games in a row.

I was only truly able to watch like 1993-1996 of the Holtz era. As a crazy fan I've watched most of the videos of 1988-92 when they were really winning but as bumpy as it is. This is the best era of ND football I've been witness to.

So I'm relieved to see their momentum climbing uphill hill again. I think it would benefit Notre Dame to stick with the same coach.

Bob Stoops doesn't win em all every year at Oklahoma but he's still the coach.

Continuity and patience will get us there. We just have to trust that good things take time ..

UA needs to make an ND-inspired shirt "Next Year." Just think, it'd never be out of date... :)

I agree though, Faith. A lot to be excited about. But who am I kidding? I get excited every year...

good idea but I doubt they would because if they put a year on it or change the design they know us fanatics will buy the best and brightest new apparel!

I just like that every non Notre Dame fan that reminds me of the losing streak gets a "but " we beat LSU. It makes that argument much more even.

You're in Ohio so I can only imagine the Urban worshippers driving you crazy.

When I watch that video of the LSU game, I see genuine enthusiasm, excitement, and a team that looks unified and together. Golson was the only one that looked like the black sheep out there. This team when healthy can beat anyone! With the experience and weapons we have coming back and the recruits coming in we are going to have a special year in 2015. I can't wait for it to get here!

During various postgame interviews I heard jaylon, malik, and coach kelly in some form state the team played for each other and not thinking about themselves.

During the season, did anyone notice any selfish play that along with the injuries could have hurt this team?

I don't really think it was about being selfish in the way of "well I'm not getting enough touches so screw it".

I think it was some of head hanging when a player screwed up...obviously Golson is Exhibit A for that. Instead if recovering quickly and playing the next play he would sulk...and that mood effected the team.

Totally agree here. When golson started sulking it seemed like it was infectious to the whole team. The energy that Malik injected along with the enthusiasm of the rest of the guys was palpable. I think this carries over to this season and becomes a special year. Can't wait!
