If this team can start out 5-0, they can/will do big things next year. Pretty manageable schedule though. We actually want Texas, Clemson, and GT high to help move up quickly.

GT and AT Clemson are not looking like much fun...

at Pitt stands out as well. Typically a tough game. Will see how adding Narduzzi effects Pitt.

Texas, GT and Clemson are going to be rough. I can see 2-3 after the first 5 games. Now if BK decides to start MZ and runs the ball things can change quickly.

Really? C'mon man, stay positive at least in the off season. They haven't played a down of football in '15 yet

The off season is all speculation. On my mother's grave I hope I am wrong. I'm going on my gut feeling and BK's history.

If he hasn't learned the value of establishing and maintaing the running game after the LSU victory and Ohio St dominating, then I want a new coach.

Finesse football doesn't win titles. Ohio St proved that again last night. Defense, protecting the football, and running consistently does.

Your point is well taken but you have to ask yourself...how long has BK been coaching and now he needs to learn the value of a running game??? I'm afraid that if he hasn't learned it by now he never will.

Watching Meyer run his record into the obscene over the last 3 years, and watching Kelly devolve into a puddle of 0-5 season finishes like this year has made me physically ill. It really has sapped my will to emotionally invest in the future of the program unless Kelly stops being as stubborn as he has will the offense he THINKS he can run.

2015 is going to 100% REQUIRE an undefeated season to even make the playoff for ND and I simply do not see it possible at this point. Golson/Zaire will be a circus sideshow throughout the spring and fall camps if they both stay. Its true....if you have 2 QBs, then you don't really have a QB. For all the talk about tOSU and Meyer winning with THREE QBs, at no time was there a QB controversy in Columbus...its was Miller (until hurt), then it was Barrett (until hurt) and finally it was Jones (until the season ended in a title). At no time did Meyer invite the kind of team-killing controversy that Kelly has created by trying to hedge his bets. Its the difference between a GREAT coach and winning and a MEDIOCRE coach and 8-5 seasons ad nauseum.

2015:

09/05/15 vs. Texas Notre Dame, Ind. WIN

09/12/15 at Virginia Charlottesville, Va. WIN

09/19/15 vs. Georgia Tech Notre Dame, Ind. LOSS

09/26/15 vs. Massachusetts Notre Dame, Ind. WIN

10/03/15 at Clemson Clemson, S.C. LOSS

10/10/15 vs. Navy Notre Dame, Ind. WIN

10/17/15 vs. USC Notre Dame, Ind. LOSS

10/31/15 at Temple Philadelphia, Pa. (Lincoln Financial Field) WIN

11/07/15 at Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, Pa. WIN

11/14/15 vs. Wake Forest Notre Dame, Ind. WIN

11/21/15 vs. Boston College Boston, Mass. (Fenway Park) WIN

11/28/15 at Stanford Stanford, Calif. WIN

9-3 will another craptacular bowl game and no national title for the 27th year in a row...hope of ever seeing another ND title run in my lifetime is starting to slip away. ND with so much as ONE LOSS is out of the playoff next year...think about it...B1G champion, SEC champion, Big 12 Champion (no WAY do they miss out again) and Pac-12 champion...ACC and ND are essentially locked out of next year's final four playoff unless unbeaten.

I just think the writing is on the wall now...conference champions only in the playoff unless undefeated - and since we have had exactly 3 undefeated regular seasons (1973, 1988, 2012) in my lifetime, those are TERRIBLE odds of even having a CHANCE at the playoffs.

Urban Meyer is a modern day Frank Leahy and he'll never coach at ND and watching him win the title (again) at tOSU was absolutely soul crushing to me for whatever reason...maybe the dawning realization that Notre Dame football will end up in a conference in the next round of realignment (soon too if the Big-12 gets serious about having a title game again) or we will soon become Army or Navy (faded powers, now incapable of competing at the highest levels) or Vanderbilt/Duke/Stanford (academic schools that are essentially cannon fodder year in and year out with an occasional great year every 15-20 years; the obvious exception being Stanford's 5 year run that I am pretty sure is over now).

Depression has set in...

It is a concern to me also. The thing is if Oregon's spread can't win a title in D1 football, can any team really?

Last night Oregon dropped two passes that killed a potential two early touchdowns. If they caught those balls it could have been very different. Oregon doesn't play so well from behind.

Now let's give Kelly a little credit. I admit it was a bit late in coming, but he turned to Malik and beat the SEC and LSU. Kelly is not stupid even though he does some dumb things like go for two when one will win the game. I believe we will come out running the ball with Malik and the play action passing will be lethal. I also agree if Kelly goes back to the pocket passing Golson we need a new coach. I just don't believe he will do that after Malik has made his mark. Malik has taken over, in my opinion, this is his team and we may indeed enjoy the ride.

and Ohio State had four stupid turnovers. if they didn't turn those balls over, they could have won by more. the drops hurt Oregon but they probably didn't change the game in some crazy way in which they would have ended up winning. the four gifts Oregon got and they still got beat up ....

change one thing, you change everything. OSU pounded the ducks last night.

Everyone acts like ND can't run if Golson is at QB. Kelly can easily adapt to a pro-style run first/play action pass type offense with Golson at the helm and ND could still be quite effective. Unfortunately, BK has shown, time and time again, that he is a pass first, set up the run type of coach. Unless he lets an offensive coordinator run the show, I don't see him changing.

I agree. osu was just physically superior than oregon and they really didn't stand a chance.

10000 percent guarantee we will see more of what we did vs. LSU.

and kelly will change.

I think he wants to mix in Zaire and Golson when needed.

both can throw and both can run.

this never worked with Tommy and Hendrix cuz everyone knew tommy wasn't going to run and everyone knew Hendrix wasn't going to throw.

Zaire and Golson both getting snaps next season with Zaire taking the reigns 100 percent in 2016.

(unless golson leaves)

one defense of Golson is the defense gave up so many damn yards and points it was hard for any QB to be successsful. Even Manziel went 8-4 in second season because his defense gave up like 30 ppg.

Hopefully he can leave his ego at the door and change his offensive philosophy/mindset. IF Golson stays, he also has to realize that he can't just bring him in and start slinging it all over the place again...

It's nice have UMass after the option of GT.

It's a huge concern playing USC right after Navy as the stats of teams the week after playing Navy are horrible, something like 68% of the time the team loses. I wish we had the bye week after Navy or Temple before playing both, back to back.

We will NOT lose to USC, I guarantee! :)

looks like a pretty simple schedule. as the season goes on this could be the type of schedule that people knock ND for not playing top teams.

if you have the QB/WR to make plays then that's the quickest way to put points on the board.

a passing game opens up the running game. if the defense is playing to stop the run then you can't just keep running and getting nothing.

I think we will be running more for sure, but Kelly is a classic high pass spread guy. He has shown an ability to change but if goes with Zaire next year (may have to by default), he will have to. Throwing 50x a game with Golson did not work at all. High turnovers and tired defense. I sure hope he comes around and runs ALOT more going forward. 2015 is a big year for the program.

This schedule does look more daunting, mostly because of GT.

Texas COULD be on the rise, they could still easily be a 6-7 win team next year, but they could also be a breakout team next year. I think it is foolish to predict them right now. They are an unknown. However, the do have talent at pretty much every position.

Georgia Tech is scary. Their offense is dangerous, their QB is even more dangerous and they return a lot of talent.

Clemson is a team that I do not know all that much about, but they are always dangerous and always a 9-10 win team with plenty of talent on the roster.

USC loses some skill players, but returns their QB and they have plenty of 5* on their roster and talented incoming class... again

Stanford on the road could be tough and I think they are in a similar position as Texas only reversed (if that makes any sense). They seem to be on their way down, but they still have talent that makes them dangerous. Rumor of Hogan leaving (probably because of the talent waiting in the wings), but their defense has lost a lot of their special players. I could seem them winning 7 games, I could also see them winning 11 and being the Pac12 power next year.

A 11-1 Notre Dame will be in, regardless what the naysayers believe here.
