Posted January 13, 201510 yr There is a reason Warriner is Co-Ocoordinator and being considered for HC opportunities.. I think Kansas has some rumblings... and Hiestand has been run out of all of his stops. If you still feel like Hiestand is the better option at OL coach I have no God damn hope for you as a football fan.
January 13, 201510 yr I understand your point but Warriner left and we just ran pull schemes against LSU for 262. Better late then never. Blame Kelly for wanting to throw that much too.. Hiestand is fine 200+ in 2012. We just MUST COMMIT TO THE RUN

Hiestand is fine 200+ in 2012. We just MUST COMMIT TO THE RUN I agree with the pull schemes. In 2012 our worst lineman was probably a consensus for Golic. On numerous plays he pulled and opened holes or sustained blocks for the RB to run through. Kelly relies too much on his QB to make everything happen in his offense. There is nothing wrong with allowing the OL to dictate the pace and intensity of the game. BK wants to chuck it at heart, despite the turnovers, despite the little rest and youth consideration for the D. He is who he is. I'm not saying Hiestand is good or bad. But it starts with play calls from the top.
January 13, 201510 yr Not if we stick with Ol Harry's tried and true zone blocking schemes. Man I love you BUT YOU KNOW THIS WAS NOT ZONE BLOCKING, Kelly wanted him to run zone he ran man/gap at Illinois [ame] [/ame] Just block em and run it BK!
January 13, 201510 yr Author Man I love you BUT YOU KNOW THIS WAS NOT ZONE BLOCKING, Kelly wanted him to run zone he ran man/gap at Illinois Just block em and run it BK! I can't really tell from that angle and starting point faith. There is a pulling lineman, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is gap and pull or power, counter, trap type of play. Harry's first year was primarily zone blocking scheme with a little bit of gap/pull sprinkled in and was much less effective than the year we hadd Warriner. Zone blocking is when two lineman attack the adjacent player on the defensive line and depending on the alignment, pursuit angle, and inside/outside call one peels off the catch the linebacker. This type of running offense takes practice practice practice because it will never be the same block play after play, which is why gap & pull is easier to teach because it is more consistent with your reads.. All you really need to know if the alignment of the front to make your gap pull call and you have to do less thinking on the run. My point is that Harry can not teach his bread and butter and he should go. I realize we had a good game against FSU and our gap&pull was great against LSU, but we've by and large suffered from bad OLine play the last couple years.
January 13, 201510 yr that was as straight up power as it comes, pull Golic to Martin and Watt Eifert kicks two AND>> Wait for it.. C. Wood does an Ekzekiel Elliot.. Kelly knows it now it just took him 2 years two long.

Kelly knows it now it just took him 2 years two long. We were 85% power gap & pull with Warriner is my point. The catalyst here is wait for it.... Hiestand... We brought Hiestand on board and he convinced BK to pull out the zone blocking playbook out and it hasn't worked out so well.

KELLY WANTED A SCHEME HE UNDERSTOOD I blame Kelly you blame Hiestand whatever same difference, WE NEED TO PULL THE DAM GUARD and RUN POWER OR GAP OR WHATEVER THE HECK IT IS AGREE??

I agree: I'll agree with the fact that we need a scheme change under Hiestand, but I'm a huge "Fire Hiestand" proponent, because I'd like to have flexibility to run both and he's shown us that his guys can not communicate and properly execute the zone blocking scheme.

If your ok with Jeff Quinn we can walk down the agreement Aisle lol to much there. Jeff Quinn for Hiestand? Edited January 13, 201510 yr by FaithInIrishForever
January 13, 201510 yr Author If your ok with Jeff Quinn we can walk down the agreement Aisle. Jeff Quinn for Hiestand? You might be onto something with the Jeff Quinn idea.. If I didn't see some really good grown man football against LSU I would say that I don't think we can get any worse of an OL coach than Hiestand. I am perplexed how we pulled that **** out and how we won in the trenches against FSU.. I don't know much about Jeff Quinn other than he was Kelly's OC previously. I think it might be a good idea to bring Jeff Quinn into an OL Coach / Assistant Offensive coordinator role and maybe eventually let Jeff call plays after he gets acclimated to our program.
January 13, 201510 yr Quinn was Kelly's Offensive Line coach for 20 years J. That's my method BUT will Kelly pull the trigger?
January 13, 201510 yr Author Quinn was Kelly's Offensive Line coach for 20 years J. That's my method BUT will Kelly pull the trigger? I'm pulling a Rocket here, but I think you are close. Based on our scheme overhaul and the backlashing Kelly gave Hiestand for a blown blocking assignment that both almost got Golson killed and a pick thrown, I'll make a deduction that Harry is on a really short leash.
January 13, 201510 yr Whatever scheme Kelly was running when Jonas Gray finally found his groove... that's what we should do. Kelly has to change his O (and line) philosophy ... we play too many above average teams who employ many different schemes... he has to simplify for the QB & line. IMO, Zone blocking is not appropriate for college... especially when we have an athletic advantage more often than not. Impressed (again) with what Meyer has done... moreso at tOSU than Florida.

That was gap & pull with Jonas and Cierre from the gun, much like OSU ran tonight. Ed Warriner will be a head coach very soon.

Sounds like Warriner is going to be dedicated OC for Herman @ Houston. I thought Kansas would really give him a serious look, but maybe they're going for HC experience...
January 13, 201510 yr yeah Kansas already hired somebody I never said Warinner wasn't good. I said Kelly passed over him for Martin for OC peed him off and he jumped ship. Harry looks to have finally found that pin and pull groove(very close to power BTW, just more adjustable) I'm surprised Kelly doesn't go for Quinn. But their's still a chance if Lafluer goes with Mike Shanahan to the niners.
