December 31, 201410 yr Anybody bored enough to compile the list of opponents? I'd be curious to see it.
December 31, 201410 yr Anybody bored enough to compile the list of opponents? I'd be curious to see it. There are at least 30 I-AA teams.
December 31, 201410 yr Author My apologies, this was meant to be titled SEC West was 30-0, teams from the East division lost OOC. Probably not huge names, but Alabama beat W Virginia, auburn beat K State, LSU beat Wisconsin.
December 31, 201410 yr South Dakota State Toledo UCF Indiana (L) Clemson Troy Charleston Southern GA Tech (L) Eastern Mich Eastern Kentucky Florida State (L) Utah State Arkansas State Oklahoma (L) Chattanooga East Carolina Furman Southern Alabama Clemson (L) UT Martin Ohio UL Monroe Louisville (L) Temple (L) UMass Charleston Southern Old Dominion West Virginia Florida Atlantic Southern Miss Western Carolina Southern Miss UAB Southern Alabama UT Martin Boise State LA-Lafayette Memphis Presbyterian San Jose State Kansas State Louisiana Tech Samford Wisconsin Sam Houston UL Monroe New Mexico State Lamar Rice Southern Methodist (SMU) UL Monroe Nicholls State Texas Tech Northern Illinois UAB Yeah.... I'm the bored guy. Didn't bother removing duplicates. Not exactly an imposing list, but there are some decent names on there. Edit: decided to add the losses, and one of them was Oklahoma.... whom I forgot. Edited December 31, 201410 yr by ckp160 win-loss and forgot one
December 31, 201410 yr not really an impressive list...except I didn't realize one of them beat Florida State...that is a pretty good win
December 31, 201410 yr Very few good names on that list. Very few. Just goes to show you what a sham their OOC schedules are. Except for Rice.....
December 31, 201410 yr The Hoosier state kicking some SEC *** this year! What a pitiful list. Its like a who's who of I-AA!!!
December 31, 201410 yr Bama: West Virginia W33-23 Florida Atl W41-0 Southern Miss W52-12 W Carolina W48-14 Miss St (their schedule is a JOKE): Southern Miss W49-0 UAB W47-34 South Alabama W35-3 UT Martin W45-16 Ole Miss: Boise State W35-13 LA-Lafayette W56-15 Memphis W24-3 Presbyterian W48-0 Auburn: San Jose State W59-13 #20 Kansas State W20-14 Louisiana Tech W45-17 Samford W31-7 LSU #14 Wisconsin W28-24 Sam Houston W56-0 UL Monroe W31-0 New Mexico St W63-7 Notre Dame* L31-28 A&M (another joke minus the bowl) Lamar W73-3 Rice W38-10 SMU W58-6 UL Monroe W21-16 West Virginia W45-37 ARK Nicholls State W73-7 Texas Tech W49-28 N Illinois W52-14 UAB W45-17 Texas* W31-7
December 31, 201410 yr Doesn't really matter...all our staff needs to do is remind a recruit that we beat LSU. They won't know how lousy the competition was. Kelly was already alluding to it in his postgame presser and it does get a huge gorilla off our back by finally breaking the streak. GO IRISH!
December 31, 201410 yr Great win for perception purposes. For those of you who think the SEC needs to play tougher OOC schedules, you just don't get it. A) no one is really playing super difficult OOC schedules anymore B) teams in conferences don't need to, they're going to the semifinal if they go undefeated/one loss

Can't believe some fans are trying to sh!t on our victory. There are a few teams ranked higher then LSU that would be a far less impressive victory for us if we played them. This is a program victory.

Just the name of LSU and the fact they are typically a powerhouse SEC program with unbelievable recruiting makes that victory yesterday sweet. I honestly think it means more than beating teams like Ole Miss and Miss St. this year. Not to mention other programs inside the top 20 from other conferences.

Let's be real, LSU is one of the two or three biggest names not in the playoffs. Only a win over Auburn might mean more on the recruiting trail, but not by much.

Definitely agree. Before the bowl games were announced many people didn't wanna play a household name from the SEC. I was hoping and praying they would land a bowl game against a team like LSU because what it could mean with a win. I'm glad it worked out the way it did. This team has the size and speed to compete with the south now and I wanted it proven on national television.
December 31, 201410 yr A) no one is really playing super difficult OOC schedules anymore B) teams in conferences don't need to, they're going to the semifinal if they go undefeated/one loss I think this is changing quickly. Got to have at least one marquee non conference game, this was what would've kept Sparty at the table had they run it after Oregon. For point B, ask the Big 12 co-champs about that.
December 31, 201410 yr What TCU is doing to Ole Miss on national television should only be allowed to be shown at 3 a.m.

The Bowl win will also ensure that ND is ranked ahead of LSU in next year's preseason polls. TCU starting the season unranked may have cost them a playoff spot.
Until they played Notre Dame.
