Who thinks Zaire should be the starting QB next year and we should run the offense we ran today?

Who thinks Golson should be the staring QB next year and we should revert back to the big chunk style, chucking the ball all over the field?

I'm all in for Zaire and today's offense.

Ziare if that means we run the football and I know it does.

ND wins more often when we run the ball, play pass and just play a physical Midwest brand of football.

The problem I see is EG leaves then Kelly won't allow Malik to run out of fear he gets hurt. You gotta blow smoke up golsons rear until the start of next season. Let him start but put him on a ridiculously short leash.

Zaire and the defense that showed up late in the game for 500 Alex?

who cares if he leaves. Kelly won't run a different offense because of it.

Zaire, Zaire, Zaire!!!

Zaire

but from now on let him throw it and not just out of necessity.

Kelly...

"We don't have a QB controversy. Both will play. Next question."

Teams cannot plan when both are playing.

I don't care which QB plays. I hope Kelly saw today that you run the ball to win games.

Exactly ... Less turnovers, opens up the passing game, and it puts the team in a kickass mentality. Everyone thinks Harbaugh is so smart but all he did was run the ball.

Golson can't run the read option nearly as effectively as Zaire. Zaire is much tougher amd stronger. Furthermore, can you imagine Golson throwing that block that Zaire did on Folston's TD? The offense takes on a completely different personality with Zaire running the offense, because he's a tough, athletic runner.

F it. Throw Kizer Sosay in the mix (am coining that nickname now) and have a three headed monster. Also what I call my junk. #lowhangingfruit

I would say run the ball "well" to win games. We actually ran it more than we passed it this year. It's just that we sucked at it.

Yeah. We definitely have a QB controversy here guys...

EG is going to be a Heisman frontrunner next year if Malik doesn't unseat him.

I didn't like how EG seemed "down" a lot during the game, but his pocket presence was pretty solid.

A lot of EG's turnovers came when forcing things inside the pocket due to lackluster OLine play... Go back and watch the jump ball that Fuller had and the ensuing spat between BK and Hiestand. He said something to the effect of "what the hell was that" because our O Line let a free rusher or two break through the line..

Golson was very poise in the pocket I thought. Like I said in another thread, that one lollipop pass he threw to Fuller was his only big mistake (glad it did not cost us anything though). Missed two throws from what I remember, but I thought both played very well. Golson is a better pocket passer than Zaire, I just think Golson needs to keep his head on a swivel a little bit better. I think the mental part gets to him sometimes.

If you can't run zone read, you shouldn't get a snap. Zaire 2015.

What about the O-line? This was their best effort all season. I don't care which player takes the snaps if this offense line is blocking for them. Maybe someone smarter will say it was the scheme. I don't care. I believe Golson might have not turned it over as often if he had the protection they provided tonight.

I will say this....some people will say it was a meaningless game (which is BS by the way), but it doesn't get much bigger than being thrown in to your first starting role as the ND QB against an SEC opponent in a bowl game, and Malik grabbed the bull by the horns.

As good as we know EG can be, if Malik's game in/game out performances can be as consistent as this one was, it would be nearly impossible to not give him the nod moving forward.

I liked the offense yesterday, but dont know if ND can win like that over the course of a full season when teams can know it's what's coming.

I also dont know if BK can help himself and stay with the run like they did vs LSU. His first instinct has always been pass first.

They do need to run more and I think Zaire is the better runner of the 2...although Golson did some very nice things on broken plays during the good parts of the season.

I think if they are both still here when the next season starts, you're likely to see the 2 headed monster again .....for better or worse, at least at the start.

My main reservation about Zaire is I'd like to see him throw more often then he did yesterday before I anoint him as the 2nd coming....because he will need to be able to pass well in order to win consistently and also cause he looks to have a strong and accurate arm when he did throw it yesterday.

Or instead of worrying about what EG is thinking and feeling, why not start out day 1 getting Kizer (or Wimbush) ready and have him/them practice with the intention of getting him/them in the games in certain situations. I say give the keys to Zaire. Run the offense we saw yesterday.

Oh... one more thing. Dump Navy from our schedule

For the first time in my life I'm ok with the two qb system. I'd start Malik however. He runs a better zone read and the o-line block better for that. Then sub in EG when we want to open it. The online should be in the blocking mode than.
