Obviously taking as a grain of salt since the source is from Jack Arute and spreading pretty quickly on Twitter..but he stated that Golson is now looking to transfer to South Carolina to finish off his last year of eligibility after hearing Zaire will be the bowl starter.

Again haven't seen it from any credible source who actually covers Notre Dame but figure i spread the twitter rumor on DD.

if this was even 1% true he would not be playing today

Hope he doesn't fumble his transfer paperwork...

guess we will find out by 6:00pm est...but i agree if there is the hint he is transferring he wont take a snap today.

I really hope this RUMOR is not true. Golson has a lot of potential. It will be interesting to see his demeanor today.

I'm still waiting for our RBs to be suspended for smoking weed. He Jack, when's this happening?? :llama::llama::canada:

This is where being a coach is so much more difficult than being a fan. Sure we were pissed at Golson's mistakes and we wanted him benched at the first mistake. But as a coach you have to draw a line of knowing when to pull a kid and when you might be alienating him. Maybe BK knows Golson's temperment. Maybe he knee he would jet at first benching. Who knows. Maybe this is all rumor. Anyways, the point, IF Golson were to leave we are right back where we were with our QB situation since BK's been here. Take next year, Makik starts with a project in Kizer as a backup if Malik gets injured. Or even a true frosh in(I forget his name). This would suck if true. first we get the head case Crist, than turnover Tommy, than no accuracy Hendrix, than a inexperienced Golson who couldn't get the playbook down Only to get suspended the following year to becoming Tommy 2.0. We need to develop some depth at the qb position and BK knows this.

For him personally I think it would be a great decision especially if Zaire plays well today. Regardless of how good he is there is many things he isn't good at like taking care of the ball which sill kill our chances of any big season next year. If it isn't a pick it's a fumble, I've never seen a qb fumble more.

South Carolina is a good team and close to home. He'd start and probably have a great season under a good coach like Spurrier. I noticed EG has a massive ego as well and his relationship with Kelly is not a good one. I think it might be time to move on, Kizer and Wimbush are no slouches. They can all run the read option, centre our offense on the run game and we help them out in the passing game.

*total speculation*

I believe Kelly would have wanted Golson to win the starting job ... it would have made his life / job SOOO much easier. It meant that Golson responded to the challenge, and asserted himself in the locker-room.

Naming Zaire suggests that Zaire outright won the competition... it wasn't a fuzzy coin-flip situation, and that if he had named Golson, the team would have said "BS"

I just don't know how to explain the call of starter...

I also believe that Golson should have been pulled way earlier in the season ... he was given too much slack, or Zaire really really wasn't close to ready. I believe the former.

Hope he doesn't fumble his transfer paperwork...

hahahahaha ... Well done Rocketsan

Hope BK "transfers " somewhere else also.

i call shenanigans on a lot of this. first of all, SC spurrier is a shell of UF spurrier and I wouldn't consider his present-day version any better than Kelly.

Secondly, kelly has a bad relationships with EG which is why he kept going back to him in spite of his deteriorating performance? and, EG suddently has a massive ego?

I'm not flaming you but i'm definitely not on board with your post.

a scenario that would seem more likely to me would be transferring to UNC where he was originally committed and that actually runs a spread. Spurrier dabbles in some spread concepts but really is still a run n' gun type of philosophy which wouldn't be as idea as UNC, imho.

The majority of Golson's issues are with how Coach Kelly coaches his QBs. Wouldn't surprise me if he left, he'd be better off and more successful with Spurrier sadly.

NDNation has ur transfer paperwork processing. What is it with you Nasville guys and you're UT mentality...? ND fans pride themselves on being better than that, especially when taken in context of Big Orange attitudes and fickle, superficial opinions about ur team.

If true and Golson has issues with Kelly, I doubt South Carolina would be the best place for him. He seems soft as baby sh!t when it comes to criticism, so going from one red-faced visor wearing screamer to an older red-faced visor wearing screamer might not be the best fit for him.

I agree Spurrier isn't the same as his UF days but Golson is a great player he will perform well in just about any offense (minus his fumbles). I didn't make the rumour up, North Carolina is probably more logical but it wasn't the rumour.

EG walks away and ignores his head coach because he thinks he knows better and could care less. I used to play qb and did the same thing, I also had a huge ego as well.

Isn't Jack a Root the guy that spread some BS a couple of weeks ago?

Hope he doesn't fumble his transfer paperwork...

OUCH............I'm with you though.

But, he'd have to sit out a year......right?

What?

Lol!!!!

Spurrier benches QBs for misreading defenses...and forget about turnovers.

I don't think this is true...and Spurrier is NOT a kinder, gentler BK. Lol

But, he'd have to sit out a year......right?

I'm not sure, if he graduates this year I think he wouldn't have too but that year out of school set him back. If he would then his only option would be stick it out as a backup if Zaire wins the job or go the 1-aa route.

If he ends up losing the job I think he's going to regret cheating for the rest of his life, that year away from a live defense seems to have made him regress.
