Up and coming Head Coaches

Recommended Posts

Let's say Kelly leaves, were does that leave Notre Dame.

At this point i doubt we would be able to get a Elite Coach (Proven winner) eve if we opened up the wallet and made it rain...

IMO, i wouldn't want a middle of the road coach, I would want to bring in a young Hire that has shown he is the next Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh. A guy with Fire and passion that recruits are going to love his enthusiasm when he walk's into there living room and the locker room.

Here is a short list of guy's out there, feel free to add and coment. I really want to hear what you guy's have to say.

Rhett Lashlee Auburn OC

Matt Wells Utah State HC

Mark Hudspeth Louisiana-Lafayette HC

Matt Campbell Toledo HC

Joey Jones South Alabama HC

Mike Norvell Arizona State OC

Scott Frost Oregon OC

Geoff Collins Mississippi State DC

Pete Lembo Ball State HC

Doc Holliday Marshall HC

Kurt Roper Florida OC

Some guys I would expect ND to explore, if needed:

1. Whittingham- Pretty decent resume at Utah

2. Tom Clements-Obvious grad who's doing well at GB

3. Gruden-I know, I know. But he's said he would coach again. Throw the checkbook out and see what he can do at college...Not a realistic option but why not see..

Gruden would be the one guy I would absolutely throw the checkbook at. Imagine that hire.

Why are people so high on Gruden, all the guy did is win a Super Bowl with Dungy's guy's.

What else did he do... Mark my word's, he will never coach again, He is going to ride the rep he has right now til the end.

6 winning season's out of 11

9-5 in the playoffs

I'm not hiring him

I would just love to see him in the college game. I think recruits would flock to him and his energy would rub off well with college kids.

Didn't he take Oakland to the Super Bowl as well? And Dungy couldn't win the SB until he got Peyton. But winning anything with Peyton is a feat. But I digress. I don't want to hijack a good thread. Keep it coming.

The energy is definitely there, and the recruits would come but only for so long because IMO he is not a good coach and would not win big at ND or any were else unless he got elite DC and OC to help.

John Gruden coached his last football game in 2008.

He can talk a mean game on television, but I'm not sure he can still coach on the field.

I still like Art Briles, Baylor's coach.

He has OMG Texas connections, having coached at a major high school for many years before going to Houston and ultimately Baylor.

Bring in the right D-coordinator and I think the sky's the limit.

Naw man it's cool, this is a discussion board last time i checked, it's about keeping it classy and not calling the other guy a moron just because you disagree....

To me, he had 1 magical season and won a Super Bowl, good for him.

But he never showed anything like it again, he is barely over 500% winning % and people want to stick him in the Hall Of Fame and talk about him with the like's of Lombardi, Walsh and Shula.... it drives me nuts

This is definitely where BK is right now.....

Yet another thing that would be very intriguing with Gruden. I would expect that he could assemble a pretty good staff with as many connections that he would have.
