Bobby Diaco and BTK put us in a bad position with that 2012 recruiting class. We whiffed on a bunch of DT's and DB's and look what has happened to us this year because of it. We are patching some LB holes with this class but I'm less than hopeful after this injury prone season. BTW this injury bug caught us in 2010 and 2011 too! IS it a strength and conditioning issue?

Probably not. Longo has been around for a long time, at a lot of places. If his methods were suspect it would have come out a long time ago. That said, I'm sure they are reviewing their training to see if there are changes that might help. But that is done after every season. It was especially weird how almost all the injuries were on defense.

I think the injuries are just a combination of really bad luck, and general wear and tear due to the fact that ND doesn't schedule lower division opponents so they don't get two or three de facto "byes" like many other programs, and they don't ever seem to blow out anyone which could give the starters a break.

Bingo! For everyone who thought it was no big deal when we lost Eddie Vanderdoes, Tee Shephard, Ronald Darby, Alex Anzalone, etc., THIS is what happens when you lose big time recruits at the last minute year after year.

I'd love to get a new strength coach. Our conditioning has never looked special considering how coach K touted it when he arrived. I don't think CBK has to worry about Longo being sought out by another program.

This is the first of Longo's ND teams that hasn't looked strong in November. I honestly think the injuries this year were just an anomaly.

Well something is off than. Either Hiedtand, techniques, the strength coach, scheme. I've yet to see ND blow somebody off the ball in quite some time. Oklahoma and USC come to mind but after that, I simply can't remember just lining up and dominating. We should be doing that against lesser opponents.

I have been saying this since Heistand stepped on campus.

He has no business being the OL coach at ND, his technique does not match Kelly's offense, It has to be the dumbest hire ever,It's like trying to fit chevy parts into a Mercedes motor, it's not going to work. ND has done an outstanding job recruiting OL, some of the best in the country and there getting there a** kicked. BK is a coach that has been around for a long long time but he does things that not even rookie coaches do. Hires a OL coach and DC that know one wants to hire and then runs an offense that just makes you shake your head.

Exactly why I think he needs to go. IF he wants the NFL, there's no better time than now!

He apparently still is according to Nick Martin.

Well, his opinion matters more than ours.

Where have you been??????

Not a big fan of this place anymore outside of recruiting news. Hope all of the old timers are doing well though :yo:

Just this week Nick Martin called him the best line coach in college football, but of course you guys that have never played the game know better than him.

Nick Martin is the best thing going for ND OL recruiting.

Rookie Pro Bowl pick is "not too shabby"

Giggle...giggle.

What I would like to know is...what techniques does Heistand use that don't match up BK's offense?

And...

Sooo many people want BK to move on; yet, you expect pro teams whose only real job is to WIN to hire him?

BK is very good...I hope he is here another 10 years.
