Good for Alford! Sign of a healthy coaching tree is actually having coaches get better jobs. He'll be missed but I have faith in the person who kept him around to find a replacement.

If Alford leaves BK is definitely gone... No Alford, no Florida pipeline = Disaster!!

I've never heard of a position coach being the deciding factor in whether a head coach stays or goes.

I'm sorry, the Alford pipeline can be replaced. I'm sure we can find someone who can land a few ordinary Florida recruits like Alford did. The two running backs were the exception not the rule. We can get Deeb's all day and twice on Sunday.

Looks like Alford will be back at ND for now as CSU called and told him they weren't going to hire him.

I figured he wouldn't get it after looking at the list of candidates. Hopefully he gets a chance soon, he's a guy that is easy to root for.

Alford is one of the nicest, hardest working, most dedicated, positive role model you will meet. If true, that's their loss.

Bittersweet news...but great for us! He is the heart of the program...

He's a good guy and obviously a great recruiter, but I'm not sure he's ever been enough of a coach to make him a total package.

Alford will make a heck of a head coach some day. I guarantee it. He's the kind of coach that players will respect and run through a brick wall for. Obviously I love to see him at ND but I truly believe he really would have excelled at CSU.

I fear it hurt him that he has not been an offensive or defensive Coordinator, I know he's the Associate head coach but often that's not enough..

I'd like to see him take over as the special teams coordinator... Let him run a unit.

It's not like he couldn't coach RB's and ST...

ND RBs have had a serious fumbling problem the last few years. I'm not even sure he's that great of a RB coach, I think he's mainly here because he's a good recruiter.

He must mean during practice, because I haven't seen an abnormal amount of fumbling..

I haven't looked up *any* stats, but the fumbles I remember most came from QBs.
