I've never liked this... as a QB you have to get into a rhythm.

Going in and out of a game doesn't allow you to get into one

totally agree.

mentioned possibility of playing both next season too. do not like hearing this on many levels.

Clueless.......

Brilliant move BK. A team needs one leader. Make a decision for a QB and stick with it. Very few teams are successful with a 2 QB system.

He might be simply trying to appease both QBs to prevent one from transferring. Or be pissed--either or. My question is how in the world could it be any worse??

Wait, so we're pissed about possibly replacing the person who's most responsible for almost all of ND's losses? You gotta roll the dice and then go with the hot hand. Zaire might actually suck but then who knows. Might be the next Charlie Ward. But probably not. If he's killing it for his first couple of drives, you leave him in. If he's throwing airballs everywhere then give it over to Golson who's now motivated. Or vice versa. I think there's ample time to evaluate each QB.

Wow, this could be a train wreck. I just hope Zaire actually gets a fair shake at things...

Desperate moves by a desperate coach. This circus isn't over until that clown leaves town.

If Zaire comes in just to run and is not given a chance to throw... who am I kidding, I'm sure that is the plan.

I can only hope that Kelly doesn't use MZ like he did Hendrix and just bring him in to run....cause even our defense would be able to stop those plays from being successful.

Kelly needs to have "real" packages for BOTH QBs if there is even a shot of having a 2 QB game plan work.

Well lucky for us, its been proven that great things happen when Brian is given weeks to prepare his teams for a bowl game.

Well rotating the rb's in for every series was successful at the beginning of the year so let's give this a try....da da doy!

Smart political move if you ask me. He can now start Golson without the fans screaming and starting a QB controversy that would be picked up by the national media. If EG plays well, he says he sticks with the hot hand--if he sucks he put MZ and say that was his plan all along. He really needs to win this game with golson. If zaire shines in a win kelly looks like an idiot for taking this long to make a change especially considering how he talked up Malik in the off season.

For the record I think some of you are too quick to hand the keys over to MZ. The same thing happened with Hendrix after a decent half against Stanford I believe.

As far as I can see Malik has a rocket arm without much touch--just like andrew--although MZ appears a more accurate. Once kelly takes away his instincts a'la EG and make him an insecure, undersized pocket passer it could get ugly for malik as well.

The writing will be on the wall for one of these kids come December 31st - either BK will display his stubbornness and stick with Golson or he shows the team he is open to change and lets Zaire loose to shake his thing...

My guess is whoever plays the less prominent role is going to be very unhappy and look to get a fresh start somewhere else.

I'm all for it under one of two conditions: either they alternate series, or Golson is the drive QB and Zaire is the RZ finisher. That way each of them knows what to expect as the game unfolds.

If there's ever a game to do this, it's a bowl game where we have nothing to lose. Everyone expects us to get housed, so why not make it an audition.

For the record, I am still on the Golson bandwagon. I think BK did a TERRIBLE job managing Golson this year. Golson needed put in his place....in more ways than one. BK refused to do it, which hurt Golson and obviously this team. Golson has the talent to lead this team to good things. BK needs to step up and be the coach to get it out of him!

The thing is, this bowl game does not mean much, so it is essentially an exhibition game for next year.

I would usually agree with you, but the team is not really playing for anything other than pride, I bet we see a couple of younger players get some more playing time this game... and I dont really have a problem with it for this game.

I disagree. If ND goes out and gets blown out again, I'd expect recruiting to take another hit and the team enters next year with all sorts of questions.

However, if ND could pull off the upset, or even show well in a close loss, it would be a huge momentum swing into next year, would help with stabilizing the recruiting class and potentially help land a stud or two to finish it out.

Yeah this game means a lot really. If we get hammered we enter next year in a spiral that I think we will not recover(With Kelly at the helm). The stench and angst over the direction of the program will be overwhelming(Which we have seen played out a few times this last decade). If we can win or narrowly lose then some confidence will return to this team that has been in utter meltdown the second half of the year.
