Haven't been hanging around DD much lately. Not very happy with the direction of the program. I understand the injuries cost us dearly but I haven't understood why we stick with a quarterback that turns the ball over at a recrod pace. I am completely behind Malik and have been since the ASU game. We don't run the read option whith Golson at the helm. When Malik comes in he is deadly with the read option and his passing game. I just had enough and I spend most of my time studying the Irish of Muffet Mcgraw.
Now, the topic I wish to bring up. I am always looking for the silver lining and next year, on paper, is the best I have seen since 1993. All those injuries breed depth and surely Kelly will sort out the quarterback position. I would sort it out very quickly, Golson makes an excellent back up quarterback. Let's don't be afraid to run our quarterbacks and our offense will be exceptional.
I could not be more pleased with the guys coming in early. Coming in early give a huge advantage to players. Just ask Trumbetti. The four guys coming in are all going to be studs and couple of them may play as freshmen. Those two would be Coney and Treadway.
I'm thrilled that Tillery sent in his letter. With Tillery and Hoge, and the fact they come in early to hit our weight program, our offensive line status is off the charts. Both these guys can be dominant. But the ones that excite me are Coney and Treadway. Coney can beef up and get some immediate reps . We have struggled mightily with the loss of Schmidt but next year a huge weakness appears to be a huge strength. We have Jaylon set for his best year ever, Morgan will be brought up to snuff, Schmidt returns, Onawaulu and Turner return and now we throw in Coney with the advantage of coming in early. The other two freshmen backers, although 4 star studs, surely will have the advantage of redshirting. This situation suddenly becomes dynamic as opposed to scarily thin with lack of leadership. With Jaylon, Schmidt and a more seasoned Morgan leadership will not be a problem.
Now to Treadway. Each year I pick someone from the three star kids that I think is vastly underrated. It started back with Eifert and ended with Corey Robinson and Tranquill. The guy I see coming on next will be Treadway. He was the lowest of our three star defensive line recruits. Corey was our lowest 3 star recruit. But what I look at is pure athletic ability and growth potential. It is imperative that they have a tremendous work ethic. I could easily see it in Corey Robinson and Tranquill was a work out phenom with the same trainer as Jaylon Smith.
Of our three defensive line recruits, Treadway run the best. in fact, he runs so well he probably will be slotted as a defensive end in the 4-3. He is also our tallest as all services have him as a legitimate 6' 5''. He talks the talk of a motivated individual. The fact that he is coming in early tells you he wants to get a jump on everybody. What he lacks is muscle and good coaching. He will get that immediately and by the end of summer will have transformed his body.
There will be a lot of competition of the D line next year (thank heavens). So many players like Trumbetti, Blankenship, Hill and Cage saw the field as true freshmen. Jhonny Williams is a intriguing player with a burst and should be at about 265 next year. Bonner was redshirted and he is exploding as far as size and strength, but Treadway is different from all of them. He runs so well and is tenacious as far as getting after the quarterback. He's hungry for playing time. Despite all these guys demanding playing time look for Micah Dew Treadway to see the field next year.
