Haven't been hanging around DD much lately. Not very happy with the direction of the program. I understand the injuries cost us dearly but I haven't understood why we stick with a quarterback that turns the ball over at a recrod pace. I am completely behind Malik and have been since the ASU game. We don't run the read option whith Golson at the helm. When Malik comes in he is deadly with the read option and his passing game. I just had enough and I spend most of my time studying the Irish of Muffet Mcgraw.

Now, the topic I wish to bring up. I am always looking for the silver lining and next year, on paper, is the best I have seen since 1993. All those injuries breed depth and surely Kelly will sort out the quarterback position. I would sort it out very quickly, Golson makes an excellent back up quarterback. Let's don't be afraid to run our quarterbacks and our offense will be exceptional.

I could not be more pleased with the guys coming in early. Coming in early give a huge advantage to players. Just ask Trumbetti. The four guys coming in are all going to be studs and couple of them may play as freshmen. Those two would be Coney and Treadway.

I'm thrilled that Tillery sent in his letter. With Tillery and Hoge, and the fact they come in early to hit our weight program, our offensive line status is off the charts. Both these guys can be dominant. But the ones that excite me are Coney and Treadway. Coney can beef up and get some immediate reps . We have struggled mightily with the loss of Schmidt but next year a huge weakness appears to be a huge strength. We have Jaylon set for his best year ever, Morgan will be brought up to snuff, Schmidt returns, Onawaulu and Turner return and now we throw in Coney with the advantage of coming in early. The other two freshmen backers, although 4 star studs, surely will have the advantage of redshirting. This situation suddenly becomes dynamic as opposed to scarily thin with lack of leadership. With Jaylon, Schmidt and a more seasoned Morgan leadership will not be a problem.

Now to Treadway. Each year I pick someone from the three star kids that I think is vastly underrated. It started back with Eifert and ended with Corey Robinson and Tranquill. The guy I see coming on next will be Treadway. He was the lowest of our three star defensive line recruits. Corey was our lowest 3 star recruit. But what I look at is pure athletic ability and growth potential. It is imperative that they have a tremendous work ethic. I could easily see it in Corey Robinson and Tranquill was a work out phenom with the same trainer as Jaylon Smith.

Of our three defensive line recruits, Treadway run the best. in fact, he runs so well he probably will be slotted as a defensive end in the 4-3. He is also our tallest as all services have him as a legitimate 6' 5''. He talks the talk of a motivated individual. The fact that he is coming in early tells you he wants to get a jump on everybody. What he lacks is muscle and good coaching. He will get that immediately and by the end of summer will have transformed his body.

There will be a lot of competition of the D line next year (thank heavens). So many players like Trumbetti, Blankenship, Hill and Cage saw the field as true freshmen. Jhonny Williams is a intriguing player with a burst and should be at about 265 next year. Bonner was redshirted and he is exploding as far as size and strength, but Treadway is different from all of them. He runs so well and is tenacious as far as getting after the quarterback. He's hungry for playing time. Despite all these guys demanding playing time look for Micah Dew Treadway to see the field next year.

I remember being laughed at when I suggested replacing golson with malik during the UNC game, that was when I had enough of golson. I still really like golson he just needs his OL to play much better than they have this year and some sort of a running game would help tons. but I agree the running game seem to become more dominate when malik entered the game vs usc.

Treadway is a guy im becoming more and more impressed with, could really see him coming in and getting into the rotation yearly.

tillery and coney I think will be real good players but not their freshmen year. tillery will more than likely redshirt and that's fine with me and coney will probably get mop up duty and most likely play on special teams. BVGs defense my be to much for him to learn his first year.

All those injuries breed depth and surely Kelly will sort out the quarterback position. I would sort it out very quickly, Golson makes an excellent back up quarterback. Let's don't be afraid to run our quarterbacks and our offense will be exceptional.

Hope you're well Ok

It's been a tough stretch and I agree with most of your post except for Kelly surely sorting out the QB position.

This seems to be something he hasn't been able to do up to year 5. This is the most frightening part of his tenure, to me, so far.

If Kelly doesn't sort out the quarterback situation then he should indeed be fired. No doubt he gets next year to get it done. How could you not get it done next year with our returners and the depth at quarterback.

Even in my own household we get grief for wanting to go to Malik. They say if he hasn't done it in a game then he just can't be counted on. I don't need to see any more. I have seen enough from the spring game and the times Malik actually gets some maningful snaps. Against USC he comes in and simply scores his first possession. Golson had the entire first half and could do nothing.

We had two things that destroyed our season. Golson and his turnovers and the lack of muscle on the defense. It took both of these happening to put us in the tail spin. A great defense could have saved two or three of those games. Next year it will be such a different story with so many players back on defense. I can't wait to see who rises to the top. If the offense turns the ball over on the 20~~~~hold them to a field goal. That is what I expect to see. We need that muscle and athleticism up front. Look for Treadway to be part of that mix sooner rather than later. Big rangy and athletic kid that can flat out get after it. Love it that he is 6' 5'' and should be coming off the edge with a burst.

Missed you. I had to check on you via my favorite ND senior. Love ya man!

One of our big problems is interior line. Hoge and Nelson should help soon!

I TO LIKE Malik over golson for his option ability and quicker decision making

Love ya buddy, Happy Holidays!!

Hey Brian. Mariah told me you asked about me and she told you I no longer have my Facebook account. She's going to start me another page but it may take awhile.

Anyway, I can't wait to pencil in Quentin Nelson on the interior offensive line. I think that will provide the push you are looking for. I wish McGlinchey had started this year and maybe those early problems on the right side would not have happened. So many bodies to choose from next year. hope they get it right.

Hope you have a great Christmas. I got to go to the ND/Michigan State basketball game the other night. It was awesome. Mariah was in the pep band and came over with her trumpet to sit with us. Hoping the girls can beat Connecticut today. Heard Brianna Turner may not play due to injury, that would suck. They could/should take it all this year. Hope you watch them.

Malik came in and played on instinct, my fear is the staff will destroy him over time the way they did EG this season. Call me crazy but I'm looking at Kizer. He's bigger kid who can stand in the pocket and see over the line and not get his passes deflected and picked off as much as Golson. He's mobile enough to move the chains a little as well.

In a perfect world I wish they leave everett alone and let him do what he do.

Good to see you back okie.

I like all of the scholarship QBs on this roster, but I think the best will end up being Wimbush when he arrives. He can run and throw, and has the height that MK and EG don't have. I'm not sure Kizer has the natural skill set of the of the other 3

I know it's way too early, but Wimbush looks like he'll leap Kizer within the next 2 seasons. I am hoping we get 2 years of Zaire, then Wimbush takes the reigns. I agree with Oklahoma Irish, I'm done with Golson. Don't get me wrong, great kid, coming back to ND was a decision 99% of kids wouldn't make. However, he's broken mentally. Zaire is bigger, faster, and has a better arm.

I think some of us are being a bit too quick in writing off Golson. I think he will be quite determined to come back next season and show everyone he is better than what we have seen in the 2nd half of this year.

Case in point, former USC QB Vince Evans: There were bumper stickers around the USC campus after his Jr year that read "Save USC Football, Shoot Vince Evans". He came back the next year and led USC to the Rose Bowl (a victory over Michigan).

My point is I think its way too soon to give up on EG. I, for one, hope he does come back next year and show us he is the man to take us to the playoffs.

Elder 06 Zaire is bigger and faster than Golsonand probably is a better fit for Kelly. But he does not have a better arm and is not as accurate

Way too soon to give up on Golson??? I think it was way too late. How many is enough when it comes to turnovers. 22 is absolutely ridiculous. It is a number I can't even conceive.

Why does one criticize the accuracy of Malik?? The only data we have on him as a passer is how he excelled at the elite 11, how he out performed Golson in the spring game and how he drove us down the field to pay dirt against USC.

Winston has 20 tos this year in 11 games

Lots of questions. Most pressing, can we assemble enough of a defense to slow down a middling bowl opponent? Seems unlikely at this point. But fingers crossed.

Did not know that, but honestly, FSU should have 3 losses. Winston has done some great things and always plays better in the second half but we clearly beat them and out gained them by 140 yards.

Wel, we don't have to look further than our own Jimmy Clausen's Soph to Junior year progress. He was still making such horrible decisions in his Soph season that it was mind-numbing. Then, total turn-around the next season.

I hope you're right about EG's determination to prove the world wrong, because the kid has the potential to be fantastic. Problem is, we've run out of time for "potential," so if he can't turn a major corner, it's got to be MZ's team.

The coaching staff has some things to answer to themselves in his development (or lack of) but it's GOT to start with him and his drive to be great.

Here's what I want to see for next year. This could be a great year but we won't enter the polls highly ranked. We better be taking care of the ball week one with Charlie Strongs' front seven and the Texas Longhorns. I don't want to see Golson starting but he absolutely could be a strong back up. By the end of spring we should certainly know if Malik can take care of the football. I predict he will do just that and will be the starter. Our run game would be phenomenal if we actually ran the read option.

Malik also has great pitching ability so that we can run all aspects of option football. I want McGlinchey at right tackle and we could run a few tackle eligible patterns as he is a 6' 8'' target with athleticism and good hands.

It could be a great year if Kelly gets his act together. He cost us several games this year. No doubt in my mind.

Here's my prediction - If Kelly brings in Quinn, then Malik is the starter. If Kelly doesn't bring in Quinn it will be Golson.

Was reading a very interesting article on Treadway. Remember I picked this guy as being a very under rated player with his three stars. I loved his potential and his attitude and I am still seeing it develop. He got involved in a new work out regiment called 'Crossfit'. I don't know much about it but it is supposed to be grueling and adds endurance, muscle and enhances size. He says he is now at the 285-290 pound range which is up from 275.

He was told he will be playing some defensive end and that is a clear sign that he can run better than the other bigs in this class. With him coming in early it gives him an even better chance to play. Don't let those stars fool you. This is a keeper.

In Dallas-Fort Worth I think there are more Crossfit places than Starbucks. You can't drive more than six blocks without seeing a Crossfit facility. Tons of people doing it. One of my office staff members has been doing it for 3 years. One of our vendors owns two Crossfit facilities. It is everywhere.

I'm glad Treadway is doing it. It wouldn't surprise me to see that others are too.

It seems like it will be tough for him to see the field this year with the depth we have at DE.
