It looks more difficult than this years schedule....anybody agree?

I just hope we are a better team all around to maybe go 10-2

Featured Replies

Well the last few years we had schedules that looked like murders row and ended up being a cupcake schedule. I think next year's will be the opposite, the only sure wins I see are Temple and Umass. I think next year could be a tough one unless the stars align and we have few injuries/no offseason disasters.

Most people are of the opinion that next year's schedule is easier. I think a lot depends these teams: Georgia Tech, Virginia, Texas, and Boston College.

The 3 ACC teams need to continue to improve or stay where they are at this year to make the schedule strong. Second year under Strong will Texas get backed to being Texas? That could be a huge determinant.

Next year's schedule looks much easier to be honest.

Georgia Tech and Navy will run ND ragged. Both of these coaches should be on ND's radar for the next head coaching job. Both get the most out of their players and do things the right way.

Both Johnson and Niumatalolo have only ever coached the triple option. Can't imagine ND would make a hire like that in this current world.

Good point but it sure would be fun to watch.

Yeah, triple option football is great to watch.

2014

vs RICE -- 7-5. W

vs MICH -- 5-7. W

vs PUR* -- 3-9. W

vs SYR* -- 3-9. W

vs STAN -- 7-5. W

vs UNC -- 6-6. W

at FSU -- 12-0. L

at NAVY -- 6-5. W

at ASU -- 9-3. L

vs NW -- 5-7. L

vs LVILLE-- 9-3. L

at USC -- 8-4. L

80-63. 7-5.

2015

vs TEXAS -- 6-6. on the rise. tough game. but we need to make a statement.

at UVA -- 5-7. road game against power 5. but if we can't win here, we're done.

vs GA TECH -- #11 10-2. tough game. but if duke can beat em so can we.

vs MASS -- 3-9. How did this game get scheduled?

at CLEMSON -- #18 9-3. Death Valley. Big game.

vs NAVY -- 6-5. Please stop this series. Because it will ensure a L to...

vs USC -- #25 8-4. Getting more schollies. Getting better quicker than us.

at TEMPLE -- 5-6. Another odd addition.

at PITT -- 6-6. Always give us a hard time.

vs WAKE -- 3-9. Should ensure less of a Senior Day shitshow.

at BC (Fenway) -- 7-5. The Vatican Bowl on Lansdowne. No one will be sober.

at STANFORD -- 7-5. They'll be better next year. How much better?

75-66. ?-?

To be honest, I think it could be the inverse of this year...

This year looked brutal to begin but ended up somewhat soft.

In 2015, our hard games have the potential to be very hard if USC/TX/STANFORD get better, which they should, plus throw in some more road games and a early coin toss vs TEXAS and it could end up being a much more difficult schedule when said and done.

That said, am of two minds...

1) Rational : better team, hopefully the improvement outpaces the possible increase in difficulty and we make it to 9-3.

2) Vengeful: Time to **** or get off the pot, CBK. Anything worse than 9-3 will be grounds for dismissal.

But nowhere in here am I entertaining a top 4 finish. Yes, it happened in 2012. But you have to go back to '93 to find the next top 4 finish. We're just not on that tier. Period.

Yeah, triple option football is great to watch.

Lol agree it's not 1988 anymore, try getting the cream of the crop in recruiting in this day and age to buy into a triple option offense

My thoughts exactly. Recruiting would go way down, and I personally would not find it fun to watch.

that would = the death of ND football.

no more sellouts. boring style. less talent. ND joins Ivy league.

no thanks.

ya just never know but

looking at it right now it seems manageable

but that all depends on how good ND is too

Definitely looks tougher now than it did when I looked at it and we were 5-0

that would = the death of ND football.

It would be the death if it didn't work.

Would you rather watch an ND team that runs the option, wins 11 games every year and battles for titles or an ND team that runs an uptempo spread, wins 8 games a year and plays in the Music City Bowl?

I don't care what style ND plays with if it wins them games.

Yup. I always thought that IU should have made a run at Paul Johnson back before he took the GT job. A school like IU (or Illinois, Vanderbilt, etc) are probably never going to truly compete trying to emulate everyone else. However, if you can master a "gimmick", and recruit solely to that, maybe you can make some waves.

It would be the death if it didn't work.

Completely agree with this.

Why do we assume 11 wins a year as a triple option team? In 7 years at Tech, he's won 10 games twice. 9 wins one time. Mostly, he's a 6-6 to 8-5 kind of team. Putting him at ND would guarantee an extra 3-5 wins a year on average?

I think it'd be much like Brian Kelly's tenure. Somewhere from 7-5 to 9-4, with an occasional 10+win season, but that it'd take a year or two to even get to that with recruiting and transfers and such.

I'm not assuming wins.

I'm suggesting I don't care how ND gets to 11 wins. Option, pro-Style, spread, whatever. Just win the games.

Oh. The whole "would you rather watch an ND team that runs the option win 11 games or runs the spread win 8" thing heavily implied that you assumed wins for an option ND.

I'm saying Id rather watch boring wins, then exciting losses.

Insert whatever offense you wish into "boring" and "exciting".
