It was fun (and frustrating) while it lasted. You showed us so much promise and gave us so much hope. Too bad you couldn't find that next level. On to Malik. Let's hope that he has that something special.

I wouldn't close the book on Everett just yet.

No, it's time to move on. I think Kelly starting him next year would ruin any chance the team has to move on from this debacle.

As Coach Corso would say, "not so fast my friend." EG is still our best chance under center and just needs to shore up a couple things. He was part of the problem this year but is not the only problem. We have other issues that must also be addressed to get us where we need to be, issues that are not the fault of our QB.

Nope, nope, nope. Zaire is just more talented, Golson had plenty of time to shore up the turnovers, but he didn't. Honestly, he was playing scared and I think he's permanently damaged.

would one have to consider it an open QB competition going into next year? what are Golson's options? I wouldn't think he would want to go to the NFL like this. can he transfer and still play next season?

Much easier to fix a QB's mechanics than mental/confidence struggles. Golson has looked lost for weeks now.

Look..... CBK needs to have a no **** open competition. Forget 2012. Forget 2014. Equal snaps, who's more productive and that's it. End of discussion.

I disagree, but regardless, I question why this thread had to happen.

I don't see how, do you have eyes? Golson was terrible after the FSU game. He wasn't the only reason this season has been a total failure, but he was a big part of it. And yes, this season is a failure, no two ways about it.

I'm not ready to give up on Golson. This is the first time he's really had to deal with losing. He needs to grow up, strap a sac, and get better. I think he will.

I don't see how anyone can't see his confidence is shot. Plus, Zaire has looked good, no bs. I'd say Zaire has been the only good thing about today.

Golson's problems are mental, and those are harder to fix than the mechanical ones. He has no confidence and is unable to run the up tempo offense. I think he has a ton of talent, but something is wrong at the moment, and he may not provide the chance to win anymore.

I will be fairly surprised if Golson is not the starter next year.

He did need to be benched so he could see that there are consequences and it had to happen so the rest of the team could see as well. EG is better and would win an open comp and is the person that will lead us to the playoffs. I have said it before in other threads but I think this will help him and I fully expect him to be in New York next year as a Heisman finalist and for us to be in the playoffs. Next year our captains will be our best players and be guys actually on the field. I also expect EG and Jaylon to pick up some of that leadership slack.

Definitely agree Gatsby. Fully expect to see Golson competing for the Heisman next year.

If Brian kelly is the coach Everett will be the starter

I couldn't disagree more. Did you see Zaire today? He played better than Golson did in all but 1 game this year. I think it's delusional to think Golson can take next year's team anywhere.

I think it should be an open competition next year. Both QB's aren't great. Zaire could polish up some throws, and EG needs to clean up ball security and vision.

I like the fact that Zaire brings a read option element. I trust him with a mesh point type of offense..

I don't trust EG running that type of offense. Either way I'd like to implement some power O and fire Hiestand.

I will be fairly surprised if Golson is not the starter next year.

There would be a complete player revolt if that happened. It happened to a degree this year. I'm not picking on you but so many of you on here don't understand team dynamics.

So you know so much more then everyone else regarding this and were right on about the score. You're a genius mr buckeye

broken clocks are right twice a day :D

At this point Elder, what pressure was there on Malik? He came into a game down big on an injured team in the last game of a terrible season. Nothing is easier than blaming the QB and coach when things go bad but this is far deeper than just EG. There will be turnover on the line next year and it will be more physical instead of the guys recruited by Coach Martin. The team will look drastically different next season and be deeper for having to play so many unexpected guys this year.
