Thought I'd make a thread about possible Kelly replacements with all the Florida and NFL rumblings? Give your opinion on realistic possibilities that you want to see be the next ND coach if BK leaves...

Kelly will coach ND for a lot of years.

Find a replacement as good, that will come to ND, is an impossibility.

The cupboards are stocked...it won't be hard to find a replacement that can succeed. I just want Kelly to stop being his own worst enemy. He needs to lose the infallible attitude and learn from his steps in dog sh!t.

If Kelly leaves, ND is going to have a long and painful search for a quality replacement....

Why do yo say that? Someone in another thread mentioned in our last coaching search we got the reigning coach of the year and before that a highly sought after NFL Super Bowl winning coordinater. Now neither worked out as well as we wanted (yet) but we haven't exactly been scraping the bottom of the barrel in our last 2 searches, and things have only improved since then.

Before Kelly...our last two coaches were backup plans. Remember we hired Willingham because O'Leary and the resume debacle and Weis was a backup because Urban Meyer's plane flew right over South Bend...

Am I missing all of these "rumblings"?

Yeah, i had the same question

Exactly. I am still in his corner for now. Would like to see more growth from him next year. He has shown he can adapt.

Completely agree, like you said kelly was the reigning coach of the year and part of the reason we got such a high quality coach was because what weis had done to build up the program, well the program is light years ahead of where it was then so as much of a kelly guy as I am whenever the time comes that he chooses to move on or someone else chooses for him I have no doubt we'll find a very good coach. Some people think if you don't get urban stoops or Saban you fail but I disagree.

I find this all very curious.....when we were 6-0 or 6-1 coming off a good showing against FSU.....still in the national title hunt...there was nary a murmur about chances of BK leaving .

Now we are 7-3 coming off perhaps the second WORST stretch of football in the BK years...... and immediately following one of the WORST game day coaching displays any of us have seen at ND....

AND NOW EVERYONE WANTS HIM!!

Color me skeptical

aloha's

Same here. I do however expect at least 11 wins if everyone comes back. No more excuses. A full team with lots of depth next year.

I wasn't saying rumblings as in he's definitely leaving, but his name has been brought up. I started the thread just generate some possible names for if he does in fact leave. I don't think it will happen though.

The internet is nothing more than the world's biggest rumor mill. People throw stuff up at the wall just to see if it sticks. This doesn't stick!

Bottom line: Kelly is going nowhere.

Well...apparently no one is going to answer the question so fair enough lol

I don't think he is leaving either, it was meant to be more hypothetical

Okay... LasVegas. I will honor the intent of your post. If I could have who I would want... It is the same person who many of us wished we could have had. It certainly doesn't mean who I think we can get. That is a different question.

I want Urban Meyer.

Thank you for at least providing a name. I did originally say realistic though lol

I want D'antonio, Peterson, Patterson, Wittingham, or Mullen. I only think Wittingham would leave his program for ND but I'd put him last on the list. If Kelly were to leave I'd welcome a guy like Paul Johnson, I've seen that option drive me nuts for years I wonder what he could do with the players he could get here.

I doubt they'd do it but I think Johnson could bring a title here.

1. Urban Meyer

2. Charlie Strong

3. Todd Graham

4. Steve Addazio

5. Lance Leopold. Chances are you've never heard of him, but check him out.

if...

BK losses these last 2 regular season games....

he will have lost 5 of the last 6 games, correct?

and ND would drop to a 7-5 record

officially making it the 4th disappointing season out of 5 seasons

then and only then will I release my highly anticipated

"who's the next coach wish list"

hard to have any confidence in BK, BVG, or Golson right now

Al Golden is Swarbrick ' s choice to replace Kelly, should he ever leave.
