I saw this group with Elmer and thought in a couple years tams would be scared to play us, and we'd line up and run down other teams throat. A punishing team that was feared, well was I way off. I know they are only sophomores but your telling me two of these guys aren't better than Martin or Hegarty? I just find that hard to believe.

The o-line has been a disaster, and to make matters worse Stanley is one of our best bets to leave early. Many of the liabilities on this o-line and team are graduating so it will be an over haul next year let' hope one of these guys steps up. My money's on Montelus cause I called it day one but he's gotten beat out by Elmer and Martin two of the biggest weaklings I've seen on the o-line.

Hiestand is gone after this year. If he isn't I am going to start making withdraws from my BK trust account.

We have way too much potential talent to have it squandered.

We have regressed every year since he took over as far as performance and it can't be traced to schemed differences. Zone blocking is suppose to allow immediate double teams and one blocker peels off to 2nd level depending on defensive alignment and playcall.. We can barely block a 5 or 6 man box with 5 lineman and a TE.

I wish we'd return to more of a power scheme (see patriots). Block the point of attack to get your back 3-4 yards and leave it up to them to get the rest. Don't worry about creasing an entire front..

Our guys are weak, off balance, and clueless. So it appears that we have a lack of preparation, weight training, and fundamentals.

Holy **** I feel like I've been bitching about this for several years now...oh wait. I have been. Hiestand sucks. He's gotta go.

Amen brother.

We average 35.4 points per game while committing 23 turnovers and you want to fire the offensive line coach?

Madness.

This offense is humming the way Kelly designed it, but is being derailed by turnovers. Without the turnovers we're averaging at least 42. Think about that? 42 points per game!

Only those obsessed with rushing totals don't like what the O line is doing. And 4 of the 5 are back next year.

So Hegarty and Martin are back? Oh jeez could be another tough year running the ball if they're starting. Believe me too the points per game has nothing to do with this offensive line.

1. It's Golson and his amazing ability to keep plays alive and throw lasers.

2. We have so much depth at receiver we could put our third stringers out there and they'd get open against anyone on the schedule.

I'd say the o-line and it's inability to run block is what's keeping u back from 50 a game.

and what would ND's record be if they scored 50 a game?

10-0... If we scored 50 a game, we would not be turning the ball over which would cut most of the recent teams' point total in half.

Do me a favor and go listen to Power Hour from a couple weeks back. They explain this very well. Its not Heistand that is the problem, its a problem where the O-line that is currently playing (besides Elmer) are all recruits that Ed Warriner recruited. Warriner was a one on one line up and block in front of you guy, where Heistand is a Zone blocking scheme. The guys he recruited are still young and inexperienced. I understand there is a time where you need to throw them into the fire but the line hasnt played that bad (except Elmer). Kelly needs to commit to more of the running game I feel. Folston is averaging 5 yards a pop.

So what Power Hour is saying is that 2 years isn't enough time to teach a 4*-5* recruit how to block... Sorry Bud, not buying it

Hegarty will have a hard time blocking somebody in any scheme. He is poor.

I'm disappointed we have not seen Montelus make a move because that guy looks like a fire hydrant. I was hoping he would turn out like a Chance Warmack kind of guy where he just mauls his opponent and destroys DLmen.

2 years is not enough to take a high school senior and turn them into a high level division 1 offensive lineman. Physically...

Wait....so, you are saying you are happy with the line play?!?!?

I admit that the 35 points a game is nice, but the line is just bad. Sometimes it is not about stats.....the eyeball test says that the line sucks and needs to improve DRAMATICALLY.

With the talent ND has on the roster, ND should NOT have to design plays to move the pocket 90% of the time nor should ND absolutely require that the RBs block better than most team's LTs.

Bivin - slow footed, won't likely see the field anytime soon

McGlinchey - surprised he's not playing yet

McGovern - hasn't had many chances for mop-up duty, but he isn't ready yet - Martin will move back to center soon enough and

Montelus - hasn't earned trust in pass protection

LOL. The offensive line can be responsible for some of EG's turnovers by having to press. It doesn't take a football genius to watch a few games and tell that our O Line is playing like sh*!.

Oh dear God please tell me you're not one of those guys who isn't giving BK the rope he needs for his QB issue, but you're gonna give Hiestand rope becasue he can't mold some 18 yr old kids who barely knew the difference between zone blocking and gap/pull, power, trap etc coming out of high school? I don't give a flip what the OL line tendencies are.. These are 4* kids out of high school and we are getting whipped by Rice D Lineman.

Go watch the f****ing Rice game for Christ's f***ing sake. I don't need to listen to "Power Hour" to tell my eyes they aren't seeing what they see.

Hint Hint pass blocking has no bearing about what type of run blocking style they prefer or were recruited to play. Pass blocking is a bout a good base, technique, hands, and leverage. Also it's about knowing your protection and what the defense is about to bring. We grade out a solid D+/C- depending on the game.
