A big part of me wants to get on here and just rant, but I just can't do it. This loss is heartbreaking. I have lived through some awful losses in my many years as an ND fan, but this one hits really hard. It's the deja vu of it all. Every time I think that ND is on a positive trajectory this game happens. It's been almost two decades of this same thing and it is starting to feel like it will never end.

Just another mediocre ND team that plays sloppy football. How will this team ever beat Louisville or USC? They can't stop anything on defense, they can't stop turning the ball over and they can't even kick a field goal or punt. How does ND keep ending up in the same place, year after year, coach after coach? I blame Lou Holtz for having such great ND teams when I was just learning to play football as a little kid. I developed expectations for life that haven't been met since I've been about 10 years old.

This year's team has shown they have top 10 talent, but I have never seen a team waste so many opportunities in my life. This team has shot themselves in the foot over and over and over this year and it is all finally catching up to them. This is the most talented team since Holtz (in my opinion) and if we can't win with them, then who can we win with?

Sorry for the rant/story/whining, but the deja vu of it all just sucks.

Yeah, I was fuming 20 minutes ago, now I feel like crying. So fckin depressed right now.

It feels like it can't get any worse but you just know it's going to get worse. I posted that thread before the game, during the week I thought we'd win handily. Then \I turned on NBC and saw Fitzgerald lead them out and I saw flashes of Uconn, and Syracuse, I told my dad we were going to lose this game and he thought I was joking.

ND goes on to the next game, that is where they go. Maybe they can manage to not **** Away a game.

They will not lose to both LVille and USC. Might lose to 1 but not both. They played a terrible game but we all know that isnt indicative of the talent we have on this roster.

I agree we will at least go 1-1.

I predicted 8-4 at the beginning of the season so I have to think they finish 1-1. :)

Seriously, I don't see them winning either game. Louisville's Dline is going to totally fluster Golson and ND can't stop anything.

usc is full of athletes, and did I mention, they can't stop anything.....

The talent on the roster is the reason there is such frustration.

How can such talent repeatedly turn the ball over?

How can such talent give up so many yards?

How can such talent fail to kick a ball well or field a snap?

The talent has to perform.

The coaches have to coach.

Neither seems to be doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Losses and frustration.

I agree we will at least go 1-1.

Yippee, 8-4

I'm gonna try and stay relatively composed.

First things first, this blows. This loss sucks a lot of positive momentum out of ND. 10-2 with losses to a pair of Top 10 teams is a good season for a young team. Now there are question marks all over.

ND has no doubt gotten better under Kelly to the point where they are consistently "good", but not "great" like say Georgia, or "elite" like Alabama or Oregon. It's not because we don't have the players or coaches or any of that. Factors that have contributed to this disappointing stretch: Youth, inexperience, injuries, Frozen Five, and turnovers. Most of those can't be helped. Except turnovers, this team is so mentally freaked out about fumbling that they overthink things. It sucks. Admittedly expectations soared too high after a 6-0 start and 11-2 or 10-3 is a season that no one will look back poorly on. However that means ND must beat Louisville, USC and a solid bowl team; no easy task. At this point I want two things: a solid recruiting finish, and 10 wins. Both look up in the air at this point. I am optimistic for both, but my faith is shaken.

Going forward, the Irish need to grow up and finish strong on the recruiting trail and more importantly the field. It remains to be seen if that will occur. Everett has been disappointing no doubt, and I think everyone is fed up with turnovers/excuses resulting in 3 disappointing years of the last 5. At some point this must change.

I'd love to end with something more upbeat, but all I've got is this quote, "This too shall pass."

Yippee, 8-4

What do you want me to do, cry?

Hopefully the coaching staff goes behind closed doors and looks in a mirror. I truly cannot figure out what the heck they're doing. Kids with all kinds of athletic accolades sitting on the sidelines because they can't get the nuances of a particular skill, yet you have a QB who is averaging almost 3 turnovers a game and you stick by his side. It's almost like CBK is playing favorites, but I can't believe a DI coach would ever do that. It's so mind numbingly awful how they looked today. Just truly terrible. It's like CBK was TRYING to **** the game away. I don't get it.

How on earth do we beat Louisville or USC? Our best win is Stanford and they might not make a bowl game? We needed a miracle to beat them too.

Did you get a chance to watch this one? The team that played tonight is not winning vs UL or U$C.....without significant improvement, ND is 7-5 after the next 2

That's because he is spared the horror show that have been the last two games.

1 game can happen. This is 2. IN A ROW.

Locker room lost? Maybe the Navy crybaby comment got to everyone

The **** home. That's where they go. Sorry bastards

Or maybe they are just crybabies period. ... This team is soft. They loss a heart breaker at FSU and have folded ever since.

Not so fast. My game is...and always has been ...reality. I predicted an 8 win season and was laughed at. The reason I say that we will not lose both games is because we can't possibly play that poorly multiple weeks in a row. Last week was bad luck. Today was the worst showing for the players and the coaches, but everyone here knows that if the team we fielded tonight played Michigan that way back in Sept, we would have lost. We are much better than the performance we brought tonight....and I didnt even see the game.

The calls for losses to both LVille and USC are overboard....
