This game comes at the perfect time. It will be at home and it will not be a difficult win. They are struggling to put it mildly. They are on a 4 game losing streak and they have a lot of injuries. They are having trouble protecting the quarterback.

They are 114th in the nation in rushing offense with only 109 yards a game.

They are 122nd in the nation in points scored.

They do have a pretty good defense and give up on 22 points a game. Defense played well against Michigan and only gave up 10.

I can see us moving all the way to the top ten very easily if we win out. So many good games to watch in the mean time.

Let's get back on track. Work on the turnover issue. Get these young defenders tons of reps. Work our way back up the ladder and into a major bowl game.

Relax. The pressure is off. Enjoy the rest of the season. Let's win out. Louisville is at home. It's all going to come down to USC. Win that game and this is a good year. About what we expected and then next year we make huge strides on defense and learn to take care of the ball.

This game needs to be darn well near perfect. I hope Northwestern brings lots of pressure and Golson settles in learning to cope with it. I'm sick of seeing Golson's deer in headlights look. His confidence has got to be built back up for him to be able to be a leader.

ND 42

NW 21

Will this be the game we finally do something in the return game? We need to do like Florida used to under Spurrier and hang 40 on them in the first half and let Malik play the entire second half running the offense and not just handing off.

I'm relaxed. This season is about recruiting and next year. No reason to get excited anymore.

Yeah I thought it was funny ASU was coming after punts and still blocking for their punt return an we didn't come for it and we let 7 guys run free at Greg. Someone block for the guy.

This game needs to be a blowout, we need the young guys to get some time. We also need a game where we can impose our will on a weaker team.

I've got a reason for you....USC (kind of our biggest rival)

USC has a new regime; now is the time we obliterate them (goal). Make a statement and not only win out, but win big all the way through. This is important for recruiting and setting up a run for next year.:thumb:

This game is extremely important for recruiting but I don't see us blowing out USC. They are playing pretty good right now. The best they have played all year. We don't lose a lot of players this year and this looks like a very good recruiting class we have coming in. I wonder what a seasoned Winbush would have looked like against ASU. That dude is a hoss!!!

You've already moved on to Wimbush? What about Zaire and Kizer?

We will never know, they probably won't play again. There will be 3 qbs in front of Wimbush, not sure you will know for awhile. Matter of fact, he is not even enrolled yet.

I think Winbush is the best of the lot. Now he is certainly at a disadvantage by being behind Kizer and Malik. Don't get me wrong, I love Malik, but Winbush is the best I have seen. He certainly has Tom Loy's approval as he says this is a 5 star and every bit as good if not better than Blake Barnett. He is an accomplished strong arm passer but he is a big powerful authoritative runner.

What I see, when Malik takes over, we will not be afraid to run him a lot more than Golson because we have Winbush in the wings. I don't think Kizer will be the thrower that these guys are but he certainly could develop and has the height that Golson lacks. No matter how you shake it, the future is incredible if we hang on to these guys. In my opinion, Malik and Winbush are ahead of Golson at this stage mainly because they are superior athletes. Bigger, stronger, faster and every bit the passer that Golson is. I put Winbush just ahead of Malik in throwing. He is killing it in high school.

Get this. Winbush has thrown for 27 touchdowns this year and only one interception. He has thrown the ball 173 times and hit on 131 of them for 2,296 yards while running for 463. They are marching towards the state championship.

I want a blowout too guy but lets be honest. We have not been able to put anyone away early this season so we can see Zaire and the some of the other young guys who need to see time. Will that change on saturday? I certainly hope so.

Got some news for you all. A 24-21 victory should not be acceptable! We don't have to put any team away early on. Look at last week's game. Just looking at the score, the average person believes ASU is going to play for the title. If they did, Bama will roll them!

Take it easy Speedster. I'm just dreaming. I know it won't be Winbush's time for quite a while. I just happen to think at this stage he is the best I have seen.

The taste of defeat is very bad in one's mouth for sure. Especially a bitter one as we had on Saturday. Let's get back on track and beat Northwestern to end the season strong and start singing a different tune. If they can run out from here on out, this season would be considered highly successful.

I've only seen northwestern play one game and it was against psu. I know psu isn't very good but they totally dominated them at psu. Now ND should roll them but would anyone truly be surprised if the Irish squeeked this game out? I know I would not.

Kid hasn't even finished high school and you're ready to crown him? Jeebus... You still waiting on ole' Ronny P to win 4 Heismans? Still taken aback by the glare of Jimmy's HS championship rings?

Jeeeez!!! I never was a Ron Powlus fan. I've always been a guy that wants a mobile quarterback. In my defense, 247 Sports has a story on Winbusy this morning stating that he is another Golson with a lot more ability the throw. I can flat out tell you he is already a much stronger runner than is Golson. I fully expect Winbush to be the man at some point. I am still very high on Malik as the next man but if Golson comes back next year and Winbush has a year in the system, then Malik will have a fight on his hands.

This is a message board for Pete's sake. It's OK to speculate. I did OK speculating with Tyler Eifert and Corey Robinson when they were still in high school.

Wimbush is an absolute beast! He will undoubtedly put up better numbers than Golson, not only because he possesses a better arm and speed, but because he is intellectually gifted and takes care of the football. I cannot wait to see how much more we can do with Kelly's offense once Brandon joins the fold. Golson has been a very good QB. Turnovers and careless decisions have sealed Notre Dame's fate this season. Go 10-2 and win our bowl game and begin 2015 in the top 5 with all of our returning starters on O and D and, suddenly, things look pretty darn good!!! We are ND!!!

Too many are overlooking Kizer and I feel he is going to surprise alot of people. He has the size (6'4"), intellect, and skills to be the most complete q-b on the team. As for Wimbush, at 6'1", time will tell but I favor taller quarterbacks for many of the reasons Golson showed us last weekend. If Kizer developes the way I think he will, and if Golson is back next year, Zaire may not see the field as the #1 quarterback. Just my humble opinion.
